Determined, Chen Kai mustered up the courage to call Qin Xiang.
Once the call connected, Chen Kai felt his heartbeat quicken, his hand holding the phone already starting to tremble slightly.
He prayed silently in his heart.
"Qin Xiang, please answer the phone. I really want to hear your voice. I can't be without you."
The call was answered, but it wasn't Qin Xiang's voice that came through. Instead, a man's voice with a distinct accent sounded on the other end.
