The tone at the end of the phone displayed a degree of irritation.
"What do you mean by 'I called again'? Haven't I told you? When I arrive, I'll call you. I'm about to arrive at the station while riding a bus, hurry up and come pick me up at the bus station."
Chen Kai was a bit stunned by these words.
"You're saying you're already here? Didn't you say yesterday that you would come in a few days? How is it that you've arrived by noon today? Can you not just suddenly show up? It doesn't give anyone any time to prepare."
The person on the other end of the phone, hearing his son's urgency, got more impatient.
"Didn't I say I was coming to see how you were doing? I'm not just coming to see you, if I don't surprise you, and give you advance notice, you'll just prepare some slapdash facade to fool me, and I won't be able to tell if it's real."
