Chen Kai blocked Xu Xin's path, a meaningful smile playing on his lips as he watched her.
"I didn't expect us to meet again so soon. I wonder if you've ever heard the saying, 'Those who enter the fray must eventually pay.'
"I haven't wronged you in any way. You wanted five million, and I gave you the cheque without even a moment's hesitation. Why are you doing this to me?"
Xu Xin didn't answer Chen Kai's question, but turned her gaze to her father and asked coldly.
"Why did you conspire with them to deceive me?"
Her father also seemed somewhat ashamed, as if he couldn't bear to look at Xu Xin, and said helplessly with his head lowered.
"If there were another way, why would I choose to do this? I owe a huge gambling debt. If I can't pay it back, those people will tear me apart."
With that, he turned his gaze to Qin Xiang beside him.
"This lady promised to give me a large sum of money to clear my debts. I thought it wouldn't be a problem to meet, so I called you."
