Chen Kai took it for real. The two of them had a cup of coffee and chatted leisurely for a bit. When it was time to leave, Chen Kai was pulling money out of his pocket when he glanced at his phone and noticed a missed call. The caller was no other than Qin Ying.
A hint of surprise flashed across his eyes. Qin Ying wasn't the kind of person who'd call just for the sake of it. If she was calling, that meant she needed his help with something.
Without hesitation, he returned the call immediately.
There was a long wait before someone picked up the phone, but to his surprise, it wasn't Qin Ying - it was her elder sister, Qin Xiang.
"You ungrateful wretch, what do you want now?"
An abrupt tirade left Chen Kai stunned.
He hurriedly interrupted Qin Xiang, "Why do you have this phone? How did Qin Ying's phone end up in your hand?"
Mentioning Qin Ying seemed to have struck a nerve and the volume of Qin Xiang's voice increased a few additional decibels.
