Xu Fang did want to get closer to her, but that was a reason he couldn't say out loud. His expression turning serious, Xu Fang said sincerely, "There are two reasons."
"What two reasons?" Su Wan asked, her curiosity piqued.
"First, as the village's party branch secretary, you're not trying to line your own pockets. You're trying to lead the villagers toward prosperity and development. Society needs people like you, so I'm happy to help."
After a pause, Xu Fang added, "Second, there's a certain quality about you that I find very attractive, so I consider you a friend. Since a friend asked for help, I figured I might as well agree."
"You're helping me just because you feel we can be friends? Have you considered how irrational you're being?" Su Wan's eyes widened.
Xu Fang chuckled. "Should I be more rational, then?"
"No, no, no! This is great!" Su Wan waved her hands frantically.
