Mr. Adjei finally got himself a coach for the lessons the family was about to go through just in time, for Bentum and Baafi to join in with the understanding that it would be appropriate to replace a nursing mother and to check on Baafour's selfish activities as well. The thought and prospect of winning had gotten into his head.
Mariama was a very lovely lady with big, beautiful brown eyes. Medium in height and fair in complexion, with the greatest figure any woman would crave for and was the greatest trainer one could ever ask for. A dedicated mountain climber for five years; with several years of experience in competitions for which she had won several awards, her love for excellence drew her to Mr. Agyei.
"I strongly believe that you should include this boy of yours whom you're calling a cheat," she said. "You said his name was?"
"Baafour, His name is Baafour…..and I hate him for that," said Frema.
"He might actually have saved you a whole lot of trouble and I must add that you have him to thank for this opportunity…" said Mariama, not wanting to have a bad impression about anyone before meeting the person face to face. Still trying to deny the fact, Mr. Agyei said…" Well…yes, yes. But his actions were a big blow to us…"
"I'll show you the brighter side of the story," she said. "It is not advisable to start climbing a mountain without being prepared for it. You must also make provisions for a guide to assist you. Can you now see he did the right thing?"
"Yes, I do," he replied. "But why didn't he let me do that? I'm the head of the house?"
"My instincts tell me you didn't listen to him." she replied, eyeing him from the corner of her eyes.
"You hit the nail right on the head. But how do you know that, if I may ask?"
"I have a son too," she replied. "He would have done that if I refused to give him an ear. Your son made the right decision. Don't hold it against him. Perhaps we can even partner with his coach to teach us a few secrets."
"No," he replied voraciously. "I don't think I like what I saw him do?"
"What did he do if I may ask?"
"He scared the life out of my son." Mariama found it hard to believe. "He actually asked him to climb alone."
"Why would he do that? I'd like to meet him."
"I don't think that will be a good idea." From the look on his face, Mariama could tell there was more to it than what he was saying."
"Did you have anything to do with that?"
"No, I wasn't there."
"How do you know what he did?" Mr. Agyei rolled his eyes to the left and then to the right, then up again.
"Everyone has a style of teaching, Mr. Agyei. Please give him the benefit of the doubt. I think your boy needed that." Mr. Adjei agreed with her.
