Bai Jingfei stared at Song Yongrui's picture perfect face for a couple of seconds before snapping herself out of her daze.
She could not allow herself to be charmed by this man.
Somehow his face and every action had the power to bewitch her, but she'd never let it take control of her. She wasn't going to be weak for a man. Not even for a handsome man like Song Yongrui.
The fact that Bai Jingfei had realized she'd been charmed was shocking enough. She was dense when it came to that sort of thing, but not dense enough to not realize after blushing for a good hour at the very least.
She broke off eye contact and started at her feet instead, wiggling her toes in discomfort.
Song Yongrui was not dense in the slightest. He just wanted to figure out how old Bai Jingfei was before making a move. Bai Jingfei looked like a young teenager but didn't act like one in the slightest. She was much too calculating to be that young.
He removed his sword from his waist and placed it on the table in front to get some relief from its weight. Lugging it around was quite a pain for him.
"So what is this proposal of yours?" he said with a smirk.
The word "proposal" sparked something in Bai Jingfei's heart.
She could only think of it in one context.
That context was money.
If she were to marry this many she would get a substantial dowry. A lot of money. He looked like he was rolling in money. It wouldn't be too hard for her to wiggle some of his away.
Plus marrying him wouldn't be all that bad. She quite liked his face after all. And he was pretty sweet and caring from what she'd seen so far. He also had the same strange tendencies as her. Criminal tendencies that was.
Within seconds she was imagining a happy family with Song Yongrui. Cute, plump children that resembled them both, playing out in the yard as she watched. Song Yongrui in revealing clothes, feeding her grapes.
'Wait, that wasn't supposed to be there.'
She brushed off her strange thoughts, fixing her long flowy hair before staring at Song Yongrui with a serious expression.
It was quite odd to see the young girl with a serious expression on, but Song Yongrui held his laughter back and waited for what she had to tell him.
"We want to build a dam to prevent the flooding in the Fa district." she said slowly, enunciating every word clearly, hoping that Song Yongrui would get her message, "In your region of course."
Luckily her hopes were not dashed and Song Yongrui caught on straight away.
Any money minded, scheming person would. It was a great deal, simply handed on a platter. Song Yongrui thought the same way Bai Jingfei did and could only think of the many many benefits of the deal.
"Why do you want to give the Jianghu control of the kingdom's water supply?" he laughed, leaning back in his chair. He looked up at the roof of the house and then looked into Bai Jingfei's eyes.
"Obviously that wouldn't benefit you, would it?" said Song Yongrui after a pause.
Bai Jingfei smiled and rubbed her little hands together, "The same reason I burnt the prison down with you. I hate the royal family."
Song Yongrui had witnessed this hate first hand in the form of a penguin like girl in a light blue dress, prancing around throwing flour in the air, as she hoped for the royal family's demise.
He decided to make sure to investigate why she hated the royal family that much, but those concerns were secondary. The more important thing at hand was to finalize the deal.
"Well, that's a good enough reason I'd say. Thank you for dropping this big fish into my hands." he was all smiles. He stuck his hand out to shake hands with Bai Jingfei and the two of them grinned at each other for a while.
The hand shake was unnaturally long and drawn out but neither of the parties complained.
To be honest both of them quite enjoyed the skin contact. Bai Jingfei blushing, and Song Yongrui admiring how tiny her hand was.
He had to temporarily brush off thoughts of her hand so that he could think about what he had just agreed to. There was a high possibility he would have agreed to Bai Jingfei's proposal, simply because she was Bai Jingfei, but that was only if it wouldn't harm his group.
Thankfully she had basically given him a gift. He had no reason to worry about the consequences of these actions as there were basically none.
He had wanted to cut off the kingdom's water supply for a while now, and thanks to Bai Jingfei he could do it with money provided by the Wang kingdom.
It felt good to hurt your enemy with their own money.
"You're welcome" smiled Bai JIngfei innocently. It was obvious she still had more to say but simply wasn't spitting it out. From the trembling of her hands and the fidgeting, everything about her was like a cute maiden in love.
It was as if one could see cherry blossoms bloom behind her head, creating the atmosphere of springtime in a garden.
"What is it?" laughed Song Yongrui, feeling Bai Jingfei's stare piercing his face. Even a fool could tell how hard she was staring at him. He leaned forward, resting his head on his arm, his elbow on the table in front.
Her cheeks reddened again, after its short period of relief. Bai Jingfei felt the heat rising to her ears and her heart pounding so loud, it could probably cause an earthquake.
Bai Jingfei swallowed her nerves and finally said it. There was no point in her being nervous either way. She was going to ask sooner or later, why not sooner than later.
"Will you marry me?"
