Song Yongrui could feel Bai Jingfei staring at him but he didn't dislike the attention one bit. On the contrary he was enjoying the attention.
He could feel Bai Jingfei's stare on his face, and then on his back, and then slowly creeping its way down before landing on his posterior. He felt the urge to cover himself out of embarrassment, but in his own words, 'I have a great backside. Let her appreciate it.'
Bai Jingfei hadn't realized she was openly ogling his butt.
As soon as she realized she tried shifting her attention to something else. His clothes for instance. That was one major flaw of his. It was ignorable to most but Bai Jingfei was an incredibly picky perfectionist.
While Song Yongrui was an incredibly dashing man, a pretty boy from his face, he had the body of a modern day idol. Lean yet muscular where it counted. His only flaw was his terrible sense of style.
There he was, wearing bright red clothes. He looked like a gangster at best and tacky at worst. Bai Jingfei was going to have to dress him up to her liking.
After blowing the cliffside up, Song Yongrui calmly walked over to Bai Jingfei. He scooted over and sat next to her, under the parasol.
"So now what? The cliff is gone. How do we build the barrier?" he asked as he gently tipped the parasol toward Bai Jingfei.
Bai Jingfei scratched her head in misery for a few seconds. She knew what she had to do. It wasn't something she would ever want to do, but fate was directing her that way.
In her first year of college she had topped every single course other than one.
Hydraulic pressure.
She'd failed that one. Failed with a big red F on the front of her report card. Not only did she fail the course, the professor refused to meet her to discuss trying to improve her grade.
She'd failed because she'd slept through the final exam of course. And the mid term. And every single supplementary exam. She also didn't hand in any of her assignments or homework.
Also she stunk up the professor's lab with an experiment, the only day she showed up.
It wasn't all that surprising that she failed. It was surprising the professor hadn't personally come to her home and strangled her. If Bai Jingfei were the professor she most definitely would have.
But to put things in short, Bai Jingfei had just about no clue about how this stuff worked. Hydraulic pressure and what not else. Basically anything needed for dam building was out of her capabilities.
"I'm not too sure." whispered Bai Jingfei, for the very first time she had admitted being clueless, "I need to go read up on it…"
Song Yongrui laughed.
"You know in a few hours at most, the diverted river will start flooding too? We've got to think of something, fast. We don't want to submerge the whole country of yours…"
"Submerge the whole country! That's it!" Bai Jingfei said as she popped up, reveling in her eureka moment.
Bai Jingfei needed to work this out in her head before she said anything too crazy. She had claimed she was going to fix the flooding but here she was, causing an even bigger mess. But all she needed was to do the math.
"What do you mean?" whispered Song Yongrui with a grin. He knew that she'd figured out what to do and he wanted nothing more than to support her.
Bai Jingfei however, was not listening.
'I'm going to build this damn dam, marry this handsome man, and then go home. No more work. Nap all day. Lots of money. Scam some people. Sleep.'
She scribbled on the sand furiously using her finger. While the gritty bits were getting stuck under her nail, Bai Jingfei was hyped enough to cut her finger off to deal with the sand.
"So if I move that there and account for some sort of pressure I can probably make this work-" she blabbered as she drew squiggly lines on the mud.
"You figured it out?"
"Yep!"
"So what do you want to do then?"
"Flood the whole country!"
The jianghu member holding the parasol above their heads almost choked. His veins were popping from holding in what he really wanted to say.
'WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS GIRL?'
Song Yongrui laughed again. He seemed to be laughing a lot more when he was around Bai Jingfei. 2000 times more if one were to be precise.
"Isn't your home still there? Why would you want to flood it?" said Song Yongrui, not speaking the second half of his sentence; 'You can flood it once you've moved in with me...'
"No no- I don't mean it that way. I just mean let's divert the river into distributaries. Spread it out more so the water reaches more people and-"
Bai Jingfei paused suddenly, realizing why her plan wouldn't work. She tugged on her bangs because the rest of her hair was up in cute but tight buns.
"Oh god. That's not going to work. We've got to be able to block off the kingdom's water supply!"
Bai Jingfei struggled for a while as the jianghu members and her future husband stared at her. They were enjoying what seemed like a mental breakdown.
Then Bai Jingfei said something she would never want to.
She had lost.
She had no other choice.
"I'm going to go study."

Chibi skit corner:
FeiFei: I love you so much!
Yongrui: *suspicious stare* How much?
FeiFei: Enough to go study for you~
