"So the young ladies have come from the capital to talk to me? I can't let them go back without having the pleasure of meeting me." said Song Yongrui, his eyes lighting up with an evil gleam.
He was ready to take a look at which insolent ladies had come all the way from the capital to demand something from him. Not even members of the Jianghu dared to demand something from him, let alone strangers.
He turned toward the luxurious carriage Bai Jingfei and Sun Mei were sitting in, and snickered.
He was ready to crush the spirits of the insolent young ladies who had come to meet him until he realized who had actually come.
When the carriage opened he was absolutely dumbstruck.
Bai Jingfei sat there, her tiny face framed by the fluffy fur jacket she was wearing. Her dark green dress perfectly suited her pale skin, that would look sickly against any other color. Her tiny fluffy boots matched her jacket perfectly.
Bai Jingfei stepped out of the carriage and looked at Song Yongrui, pointing and giggling. The little scent pouch on her waist shook up and down as she took her little skips.
Song Yongrui watched as Bai Jingfei waddled toward him, his mouth wide open in pure shock.
It all made sense to him now. There really weren't that many young ladies who would dare venture into the region they, the Jianghu, controlled, forget about trying to make demands.
He stared at Bai Jingfei's tiny, tender looking face and then finally stuck his hand onto his hip and burst out into laughter. His loud laughter attracted the attention of his guards who had rarely seen the stoic man laugh.
Other than in situations he was getting rid of enemies, of course.
But that laugh was something different all together. It was a laugh of joy and amusement, not the demented laugh from hell that they were used to.
"So it's you? You must be prime minister Bai's daughter." he said smiling, before getting onto one knee to greet Bai Jingfei.
The other man stared in awe at his boss who was on one knee. He had never seen his boss bow to anyone, or pay respects to them. Now he was bowing to a tiny girl, who only came up to his shoulders at best.
Bai Jingfei laughed once she got to Song Yongrui, bending her delicate body forward, allowing her long hair to drape over her shoulders.
"Jianghu boss? This is going to be so easy!" she laughed, "I have a deal you simply cannot pass up."
Song Yongrui didn't doubt her for a second. He held her hand and walked her inside the house, their footsteps matching each other's pace.
"Then let's go talk about it."
He didn't bother taking a single look at the other person who had come, and Bai Jingfei hadn't taken a single look at the man who had been next to Song Yongrui.
Bai Jingfei felt as if her hand was tiny in comparison to Song Yongrui's large one. Somehow his hand in hers made her feel nervous, even a little sweaty.
She initially wanted to remove her hand from his but she realized that if she did, he would most definitely see her face and realize how shy she was feeling.
They walked into the house, past an ornate pond and then past several ornate rooms with doors made of bamboo. It was a traditional house from the inside despite the exterior. Bai Jingfei peeked at the koi pond wondering if there were any edible fishes in there.
Bai Jingfei was burning red. She was blushing so furiously that her ears were turning red and her face was warm. Song Yongrui reached out to touch her face.
His warm palm, on her forehead, made Bai Jingfei feel like she was melting. It wasn't the same as when heavenly doctor Ming or Ladder touched her forehead.
Song Yongrui's touch made her heart beat faster and had her feeling delirious.
"Are you okay? It looks like you have a fever", his voice was dripping with concern and Bai Jingfei could feel herself getting more flushed after hearing that.
"I'm okay…" she whispered.
Song Yongrui leaned forward, bending down so he could hear her better. Then he nodded after making sure Bai Jingfei was okay.
Song Yongrui had a sharp yet delicate face. A jawline that looked as if it could cut someone, sharp and fierce eyes, but every other feature softened him up, making him look like a pretty boy.
If he had been dressed like a normal person, he would quite definitely be a charmer but he dressed like a homeless gangster. Bai Jingfei felt a slight bit of pity seeing what he was wearing but figured she could get him to wear something that suited him more.
His muddy boots left tracks where he walked and Bai Jingfei nudged him, feeling pity as the beautiful wooden flooring had mud tracks left over it.
Song Yongrui laughed and pulled off his boots, proceeding to throw them into the koi pond, leaving Bai Jingfei confused, and eventually, laughing.
He led Bai Jingfei to a table and the two of them stared at each other as if no one else existed in the world. Bai Jingfei slowly broke eye contact, shifting the chair ever so slightly to hide her embarrassment.
Sun Mei and the other man who had been forgotten back at the gate shuffled awkwardly.
The man hadn't gotten a good look at Bai Jingfei's face, and neither had Bai Jingfei. If Bai Jingfei had taken her eyes off of Song Yongrui for a second and taken a look at the man, she would've realized that the man was Song Zihao.
Song Zihao, took a look at Sun Mei and then decided to lead her into the house.
He had no clue where his unreliable brother had taken Bai Jingfei but he figured if they looked hard enough they'd find the two. It wasn't too hard.
He wondered for a moment, how his stuck up brother knew that woman.
He'd find out sooner or later either way.
