Usually in the case of a battle, there would be women that traveled alongside the men who were soldiers. They could be anyone, from wives of the soldiers to cooks to prostitutes to certain female warriors.
However, in this case, they were off to the far north. The north had mountains that were freezing, and strange savage tribes were the only ones who could live in the temperature there.
It was far too harsh for prostitutes to tag along.
The weather there was just so harsh that even the bravest, most hardened of soldiers, did not want to go there.
