Chapter 94 - Chapter 94 - Amelioration

Jennifer's eyelids dropped a little as she tried to veil her pain. Seeing Debbie with Adrian was still painful even though Adrian's idea of a girlfriend was pretty clear in her mind but can you really move on from the love of your life within a day. A few hours to be more precise. But Jennifer had to take control of the situation. Adrian was becoming more and more ill tempered. He got into fight almost every alternative day. How long before he actually did something that was irreversible? How long will Jennifer stick to him when they have already broken up?

It will be really derogatory for her mental health to stay with him when he and Debbie are together. Jennifer promised herself that this will be the last time she interferes in Adrian's business. Next time even if he dies, she will not come to save him. Jennifer saw Adrian moving away from Debbie which was a relief for her broken soul. But she was angry at him as well. "Do you have trouble hearing? Come with me!" she glared at Adrian and dragged him to the nurse room.

Everybody was left stunned by Jennifer's bold move. She was so humiliated in the morning and she was still working so hard to save him. James ran to catch up to Adrian and Jennifer. At first Jennifer wanted to support Adrian as he was limping due to his injured leg but then decided otherwise. Her heart was aching when she saw Adrian having trouble walking but she had to remain aloof. Adrian had made his decision and she was forced to respect it even if she didn't accept it.

Luckily, James came to Adrian's rescue. He noticed his friends struggle and gave him support to walk. Jennifer turned her eyes away when she was sure that Adrian was helped by James. "Is anyone here." She asked bit got no reply as she sighed. "The nurse must be out of lunch. I'll treat you then." Jennifer said as she noticed Adrian smiling at her. "Don't smile at me. I won't forgive you with that stupid smile." Jennifer said sternly but her heart had already melted completely.

"Sorry. He started it." Adrian replied. The guilt was back, eating at him. His skin was stinging in the places she touched him, reminding him that her dress was still red which meant her heart was still stinging just the way his skin was. Yet, she was here for him. No matter when he needed her. Jennifer quickly caught Adrian's lie as she stared at him before speaking, "Don't think that I don't know about who pulled him out of the bathroom punching him."

Jennifer said as Adrian rubbed his neck sheepishly. He had turned silent again. James was right. The only person Adrian spoke to was Jennifer. "Why would you fight like this? Do you not remember the promise you made me? I said you won't fight anymore." Jennifer said these lines and instantly regretted. After so much had happened she was still counting on their promises. How foolish! He cheated on you and you expect him to keep his promises. Are you dumb or retarded?

Adrian had no answer to Jennifer's question so James jumped in to save the situation. "Ethan was badmouthing you in the boys washroom where I and Adrian were present. Adrian just got really angry and he punched him in the face. Ethan punched him again and so he had to punch him again and then…" James trailed off looking very embarrassed. He also knew how stupid this sounded.

"No. Go on. Are you for real? He was punching a guy and you did what? Go on supporting him and the next time he fights, I won't be there to stop him. I have already promised myself that this is the last time. Do you even have an idea about how hard it is to face him after what he did to me? How bad it is for my mental health?" Jennifer spoke these lines in pure honesty. There was no reason to hide it. Adrian will not care whatsoever. But Jennifer was wrong. The moment she said these lines Adrian felt a pang of pain hit him in his heart directly. Everything was so bad for Jennifer and yet she was caring about him. The truth of Jennifer's feeling hit Adrian really hard as he began to tear up again. It took him a lot of time and some tiny sniffles here and there to prevent it from coming into Jennifer's notice.

Jennifer felt that she couldn't take it anymore so she wanted to hurry up the process. In the way, she pressed on Adrian's leg injury a bit harshly making him say, "Ahh that hurts." Jennifer decided that she will have to bear with the pain and went slow again. When she was done with the legs and arms she turned her attention to his shirt that was soaked in blood.

"Please remove your shirt." She said and Adrian just smiled and obeyed to her instructions. But the moment his bare back was exposed to her, Jennifer gasped at what she saw. There was a tattoo on his back. The tattoo covered most of his back and it was the image of a black dragon. It's head started from Adrian's right shoulder and it's body wound it's way down his back, ending it's tail on his lower back. The details were amazing and very well defined, almost as if it could jump into life any moment.

Its cold piercing eyes looked out towards the world, as if it was guarding it's master's back and it looked menacing as if it would show no mercy to anyone whoever was caught in his sharp claws. It's sharp teeth were bared, a signal to keep everyone else away and it's scales were as black as midnight, a symbol of the darkness of the world it lived in.

Jennifer was really intrigued by the tattoo. She didn't even realize she was staring at it until James shook her. "What are you staring at?" he asked her. "I.. I didn't know that he had a tattoo." Jennifer got tangled in her words. "Are you scared?" Adrian puts forward this question. "No. I like it." Jennifer replied. "Most people get scared by his tattoo." James said. "They don't know him the way I do." Jennifer instantly blurted and then got really quiet.
