"I acted on instinct. I'm sorry." Jennifer looked down in embarrassment. "You don't need to be sorry. I get it. It will take some time but try and get used to this. This is the life of a secret mafia. The two faced personality. Yes!" Adrian counselled Jennifer into telling him what happened at the principal's office. Jennifer told him everything. "Babe, I'm so sorry. I wasn't there for you." Adrian didn't know how to express his guilt. The first day they start dating and he is already lagging behind in his duties towards her.
"Don't beat yourself up. You made the right decision. If my dad got to know about us, he'll probably be more angry." Jennifer told Adrian as she took the spray from Adrian's hands and went near the mirror to get a view of the sprain. She lifted her top a bit but sprayed it in the wrong area. She turned here and there to get a proper view but she was only struggling.
Suddenly, A strong arm took the spray in his hands and lifted her shirt from the side and started pressing her waist to know the area of sprain. Adrian saw a slightly swollen area and pressed it. Jennifer let out a small hiss. Adrian nodded a bit and sprayed over there. "Thanks baby." Jennifer said. Adrian smiled and scooped Jennifer into his arms again.
They reached their classroom but he didn't put her down. He still walked into the classroom holding her in his arms. Jennifer realized that their teacher was already in her class. Jennifer was waiting for Adrian to put her down but Adrian was lost in some unknown land. To bring him back from his imaginary land, Jennifer poked his hard chest with her index finger. "Put me down." She whispered.
Adrian blinked a few times before putting her down and went back to his seat. After the class was over, a student came over to Jennifer and handed her a pamphlet. Jennifer looked at the pamphlet and a mischievous smile made it's way to her lips. She looked at the pamphlet and then looked at Adrian. Her smile grew wider. She went towards Adrian and kept that pamphlet in front of him.
Adrian looked at her and then looked back at the board but this time, Jennifer knew the reason for his cold behavior. "Look at this or I'll tell everyone that I'm dating." Jennifer whispered mischievously. Adrian widened his eyes and then looked at the pamphlet. "Huh? A dance competition. I won't be participating so forget it. I can't dance." He said coldly and passed back the pamphlet to her.
"Don't forget! The first time I met you, we danced that evening. So, stop lying." Jennifer's impish voice reached Adrian's ears.
Suddenly, the event organizer came in. "Hello beautiful ladies and cool guys! We have a dance competition coming this week. You need to be in pairs so children please choose your partners now!" All the students went here and there and choose their partners. The only people left were Jennifer, Adrian and Theo, their classmate.
"Ms. Jennifer, who do you choose to dance with?" the teacher asked. Jennifer looked at Adrian and smiled. "Since, Adrian isn't interested in dancing, I will-" Jennifer was cut off by Adrian saying, "Jennifer, will you be my partner?" Jennifer let out a small chuckle knowing that she won. She looked at Adrian and then nodded in affirmation.
"Okay so we are done with the pairs and Theo, why do you become an anchor. Hmm?" the event organizer said and left. "I know you can't say no to me." Jennifer whispered in Adrian's ear. "Baby, please understand. I can't openly show us. It's dangerous for you. I'm trying to protect you." Adrian begged to Jennifer but she just laughed. "I understand your concern but I really wanted to dance with you." Jennifer said while giving puppy eyes to Adrian. "Okay. Last time. Promise?" Adrian agreed to her. "Promise." Jennifer said as they entwined their pinkies. "Now that we have decided to dance, get ready! I'm not going to make the choreography easy just so that you can cope up." Adrian said with his smirk on.
"Don't worry. I'm pretty good at dancing." Jennifer also winked and left the classroom. Soon it was time to go home and Jennifer was packing her bags when James approached her. "We need to go now!" he hurriedly said and stared tugging Jennifer. "What happened?" Jennifer questioned. She wasn't going to go anywhere. Adrian told her to wait for him. They both were supposed to go home together. "Your dad." James just said these phrases and Jennifer's feet went cold.
"M- My D-dad? He is here?" Jennifer was scared and Adrian wasn't around. It was getting more and more scary. "He is at the school entrance. Adrian has gone to talk to him." James told her and then urged her to pack up faster so they could leave before he reached the classroom. But Jennifer wasn't listening to anything.
She broke into a sprint and stopped only when her dad and Adrian came into view. "D-Dad?" she shouted and noticed Adrian's blood drain from his face. She registered the presence of a panting James behind her. Jennifer ran at full speed and stopped behind Adrian. "What are you doing here?" Adrian asked her, stepping in front of her, blocking her father. "I need to talk to him. James told me you were here. I couldn't let his rage destroy you again." Jennifer was also panting, with fear.
"Leave." Adrian barely whispered. But Jennifer stood there. "You need to leave." She said and steeped in front of Adrian. "Can I talk to my daughter in peace? Without this cockroach interfering." Mr. Williams said in an annoyed tone. "He isn't a cockroach." "I'm not leaving." Jennifer and Adrian said at the same time, leaving Mr. Williams shook.
"Please tell me you're not dating him." He said. "What if I am? Not like, you care anyways." Jennifer spat out. Adrian was worried sick now. Jennifer was doing everything wrong. In her rage and protectiveness, she was ruining the plan Adrian had set. "No. No. No. My daughter knew better. She wouldn't have settled for some carbon copy of a real man " Mr. Williams just laughed.
