Next, Adrian took Jennifer to a room where two twins were sitting on the floor doing something. Their backs towards the door, they didn't register Adrian's presence. They were engrossed in doing something very minute and detailed. Their body posture suggested that they were probably making something. Adrian pointed towards one of them, "She is Anna, the one with light brown hair. The other one is Hannah. They both are twins. Their parents created them during a one night stand. They thought they could work out a family with them, but they were wrong. When they were two years old, they left them in a adoption house. Both of them were adopted instantly but into different families. They spent fifteen years believing that they were alone until they met each other at a dog show."
Their story gave rise to deep sympathy in Jennifer's heart. "Can I give them a hug?" Jennifer asked Adrian. When Adrian nodded, Jennifer entered the room, alone. She knocked at the door. The twins turned around and instantly stood up. "Jennifer, Is there something I can help you with?" Anna asked. Jennifer saw them with moist eyes. "What's wrong?" Hannah asked her. "Can I hug you?" Jennifer asked for their permission. Anna and Hannah exchanged a look before accepting her happily.
"Yeah sure." They both came forward and embraced Jennifer with open arms. Jennifer hugged them warmly. She smiled widely as she saw both of them smiling at each other. The heart touching exchange of emotions was enough to leave anybody in tears. "Anything wrong?" Hannah asked again. "No. I just wanted to hug you." Jennifer said. "You can go back to your work. I won't take anymore of your time." She said. "Oh no. It's fine." The twins said. "Since you are new here, you might not know how a lot of thing s work here. Want to join us for a drink sometime?" Anna offered. Jennifer nodded and exited the room to join Adrian and James who were waiting for her in the corridor.
Next up, They introduced her to Joseph. "I know him. He was the guy on the video call." Jennifer recognizes him immediately. "How's your head, buddy?" she asked him. Joseph told her that it was fine now. They both started talking and after sometime Jennifer got really acquainted with him. He had a way with words. They both almost forgot the presence of Adrian and James. After few minutes, Adrian cleared his throat loudly capturing their attention.
"I am not introducing them to you so that I get competition. I am just introducing them so that you feel comfortable here." He said. Jennifer and Joseph both laughed loudly. "Maybe you just got competition. He's not bad. I mean, I'm sure he would make a good boyfriend." Jennifer teased Adrian. Adrian opened his mouth and pretended to be offended, making all of them laugh. "Actually, I like someone." Joseph confessed, looking down and blushing. "Who?" James and Adrian said in unison.
"Is it Sandra?" Jennifer asked. "How do you know?" Joseph was shocked. "During my stay in the previous week, I didn't talk much to anyone but I had plenty of time to observe all of you. The way you look at her says everything. You don't need to speak." Jennifer said as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry! I'll help you get her." She winked and then they left the room.
Adrian introduced her to many more guys and girls who were present on that floor. All of them had a really dark past but their morals were really strong. Each of them were fighters and survivors. Each brave and unique in their own sense. Each one had a talent or ability that shined brighter than everyone else and an equally dark and painful past. All were beautiful. All of them were nice. "So you see, each of them were pieces of diamond thrown by the society, thinking that they were nothing but coal." Adrian said as they came out the room of the last member, Liam.
"Until, Adrian found them. He took enough pain and effort to polish them and convert them into true diamonds." James added these lines, making Adrian blush. "This little group of ours is just a way of survival for them." Adrian told Jennifer. "But, survival through the wrong ways is also wrong. You can't just do anything in the name of surviving." Jennifer counter argued. "That is what you don't understand. Come, our tour isn't over yet." Adrian calmly told Jennifer and led her into a room that looked more like a photo gallery.
The room was small, somewhat like a storage room but it was empty. No furniture. No windows. Only a single light and some photos hanging on the walls. "What's this?" Jennifer said as she entered the room behind Adrian. "We call it the Room of Remembrance." Adrian explained. "It holds the photos of those members who were once a part of this group." Adrian took a sharp intake of breath. "He means they are those children who died on missions with us. They were our members who are now dead." James explained from behind.
Jennifer covered her mouth in horror. "Some of your people actually got killed, I thought you were the ones who killed others." Jennifer said in a tiny, feeble voice. "Yes. Some of us died because even if we kill, we kill the wrong people who are powerful enough to manipulate the police." Adrian told her. "Many of them died while killing other mafia members who were engaged in drug dealing or human trafficking."
"How scary!" Jennifer exclaimed. "Him, He's Kate's elder brother." James said pointing towards a photo if a boy who looked like he was in his late teens. A handsome boy with blonde hairs and eyes of two different colors. He had one of his hands enveloped around Kate's body. "Kate! The girl who lost her brother who was trying to save girl slaves." Jennifer remembers Kate as a girl who had eyes of two different colors, just like her brother. She was cleaning her room when Adrian introduced Jennifer to her.
"How sad!" Jennifer was again feeling gloomy. "Kate's brother heard that some people were buying girls who came from Russia. He tried stopping them and lost his life in the process. We were all with him but till the time we were able to contact a hospital, he was dead. He knew how dangerous these men were so he refused to bring Kate along. They both fought about it and then he died. Kate was so distraught. I remember she refused to eat anything for two days until we forced it down her throat." James remembers the story as he narrates it to Jennifer making Adrian and James emotional.
