Chapter 45 - Chapter 45- The forbidden

"This place has the best booze of the world." Adrian told her. "Follow me for a few hours in pure heaven." He screamed and entered the club. As soon as he entered, he noticed a few heads turning towards Jennifer, checking her up and down. Adrian covered her entire figure with one single movement of his feet. "Go. Move forward." Jennifer urged him from behind.

Adrian and Jennifer sat on a table. Adrian's eyes sweeped the entire area in one single minute, looking for any creeps or trouble. He was happy. His wish was getting fulfilled even without asking. What more could he ask for. Moments like these really made him appreciate the kindness of the world. Apart from that, his world was deprived of goodness. Only Jennifer brought goodness to him.

Adrian noticed Jennifer gut down drinks, one after another, not even on the brink of getting drunk. He has almost finished his drink when she ordered another one. This girl was too fast. "Do you want to compete with me?" Jennifer challenged him. Adrian's alcohol tolerance was fine. He agreed because he thought that Jennifer couldn't drink more than him. When his den began drinking he was the last to get up from the table.

"Okay. If you loose, you will do my homework for an entire week." Adrian joked. Jennifer nodded and called the waiter to order a couple of drinks for their challenge. One after another they began gutting down drinks. Jennifer was faster than Adrian had expected. She was faster than normal girls. Her drinks finished before Adrian let out a breath. The competition was neck to neck.

"Lets dance. We'll continue this later." Jennifer arose from the table abruptly. She shouted and left Adrian with no choice but to follow. Adrian was drunk, badly enough but he was alert. He checked his surroundings after a few minutes. He wanted to relax but mafia boss was never on vacation. Specially, when he was with the only thing in his life he truly cherished.

A few minutes later, Adrian noticed police horns in some distance. Police was going to raid this club and they were in trouble if caught. Adrian knew Jennifer's nature. She would drown in guilt if she was caught today, the first time she did something her parents forbade. They had to escape. Even before they had the chance, police had already blocked the door. The only option they had now was to escape through a tunnel that ran underground. Mafia knowledge.

Adrian dragged Jennifer, without any notice, without any explanation or words exchanged. He expected Jennifer to be shocked or at least scared but Jennifer wasn't. She was completely relaxed. She followed him into the unknown without a single protest. They weaved through the people, smelling of sweat and alcohol. Adrian entered the kitchen of the club. To Jennifer's shock, no one said anything. They simply saw and ignored.

"I thought this part of the club was strictly for staff's use." She mumbled as she tried to keep up with Adrian's sprint. "It is." No matter how many times Jennifer saw his smirk, it always have her butterflies. This smirk was probably meant to be immortalized in some museum. It was just so perfect. F-O-C-U-S JENNIFER. Why was she thinking of the smirk when she was on a run. From the police.

Adrian thought Jennifer didn't understand why she was being dragged away but she did. This was the only reason she allowed him to. She never trusted somebody too much. Not after she learnt her lesson the bitter way. Winston and Abby, you are going to pay. Jennifer liked this feeling in her body. These chills that spread from her backbone to her entire body with every step she took. She liked this danger, the adventure and the adrenaline.

The buildings, the pavement, the cars everything was blurring past. When Adrian decided that they had reached a safe distance from the club and they were away from danger, he stopped abruptly. Jennifer looked at him. When the adrenaline wore off, the alcohol took over. Jennifer had drank more that Adrian but she was not even close to being drunk. She was standing there perfectly okay but a little confused expecting a sentence or maybe an explanation from Adrian for this sudden break. But Adrian did not open his mouth, instead he staggered forward. Drunk. Totally. And fell on the floor only to bruise his elbow. Jennifer tried very hard to get him standing straight. Jennifer noticed a cut on his arm. How careless. It was bleeding.

However, Adrian seemed unaware of the wound that seemed pretty deep, attempting to make his way through the house, only to terribly fail even to make it a step, stumbling to the floor. "Ahh.." Jennifer heard him grunt, followed by a heavy sigh, as he tried to get back up on his feet again.

"Hey, come here. I'll help you. You don't look so good." Jennifer frowned, placing her arm under his for balance. It took her a couple minutes or so, when she had actually managed to help him up the stairs and into his bedroom. "I'm sorry for all the trouble." He finally spoke, keeping his head held down as he slumped on the bed. "You are not trouble." Jennifer furrowed her brows, looking at him, only to notice a tight bandage wrapped around his upper thigh.

"What's this?" she knelt down, taking one more glance at how bad it was. This was the injury Adrian received on his last mission, when one of his men ended up in the hospital. Adrian wished his brain would come up with a lie. Any lie. Anything to stop the conversation from going in the wrong direction. He deliberately moved the wrong way that made the pressure worsen the condition of his wound. He hissed in pain.

"Stay still. You are only going to worsen it. Let me take care of it." Jennifer threw words at his mouth without any proper time to think. Somehow, it was hurting her to see him this way. She wanted it to end. It felt like she was cut open, rather than his thigh.
