After a lot of thinking and deep deliberations, Jennifer came up with a name. Darius. Who would know better about Kurt and Adrian other than Darius. He was the person who told her about the rivalry. He was the person who lives near Kurt, so he would know what happened to Kurt afterwards. Darius was the perfect answer to all her problems.
"Why didn't I think of him before? I spent the entire week in a crazy quest for an answer which was right in front of me for so long." Jennifer thought as she typed a text to Darius to meet her in the café behind the school. Since, it was weekend, a lot of people would be going there. What's a better hide out than in the crowd itself.
Darius replied that he would be happy to meet her there. "Easy peasy lemon squeezy!" Jennifer clicked her tongue as she got up from the bed and opened her grand closet to wear a nice dress. Ultra rise high supper skinny jeans with a crew neck tee. What screams cuteness of not this. She applied her makeup, did her hairstyle and headed out of the door.
When she reached the last landing of the stairs, she heard Adrian call out her name. "Jennifer, are you going somewhere?" Oh crap! Jennifer, in her excitement, had forgotten all about Adrian. She couldn't let Adrian know where she was going. "Oh! I am going out for a date." Jennifer blurted out without thinking much. A date? Eww no. Winston was enough of a bad boyfriend, she didn't need another.
The smile on Adrian's face vanished. A date! Was she in love? Does she have another boyfriend? Is she back with Winston again? No that was going too far. Winston was out of list. Jennifer wouldn't stoop so low. Going back with the ex who cheated her with her best friend. "Oh! So...okay ….go ahead. Enjoy your evening." Adrian could barely make out these words from his mouth.
Jennifer slowly took a few steps and walked outside the house. She sat in the car and indicated the driver to start driving. She was really excited. Finally, she would be one step closer on solving this puzzle. It's progress. It's it. On the other hand, Adrian was boiling with jealousy. Who was the guy she was going to meet? Is he even worthy of his precious Jennifer?
Adrian had to follow her. He had to know. No! That was wrong. It was invading her privacy. If Jennifer got to know, she would think of him as a stalker and sever all ties of friendship between them. But it was eating Adrian inside out. The jealousy was too much. He had been living with her in the same house for about a week now but another boy got the key to her heart.
"Oliver, bring the bike. I need to follow somebody." Adrian's voice was back to being a scowl. "Master, do you need me to come?" The person on the other side said. "No. Just the bike." Adrian disconnected the call and pulled on his jacket to followed Jennifer's car.
"Never thought I'll see the day when I would be following a girl out of jealousy. Master Adrian, the person feared by all is getting ready to follow a girl going to her date." Adrian said to himself as he looked at his reflection in the mirror before going outside.
Within a second, Oliver was outside the house with a bike. "Thanks buddy." Adrian climbed up on the bike. "Master, according to us, she is headed west." Oliver spoke as he bowed down before Adrian and left. "West. Huh! The café behind school. There is no other seven star café in that direction."
Adrian kicked the bike to life and sped off in the said direction. He caught up with Jennifer shortly. He saw her going into the café. How beautiful did she look. Only if she was going on a date with him but he was here lurking in the shadows like some creepy stalker. "That day will also come. I promise you." A voice in Adrian's head promised him.
Jennifer waited in front of the café for a few minutes, looking here and there. Her ever gorgeous hairs blew in the direction of the wind causing them to enter her eyes. She cleared them away with one sweep of her delicate yet elfin fingers. The boy, whoever he was, he was late for the date. How irresponsible. Can't even come for the date on time. Keeping her waiting.
Adrian felt a sudden urge to come out of his hiding place and grab Jennifer's arm, turn her around, kiss her on her captivating lips and then tell her how much he loved her. Tell her that she was the most charming and charismatic girl he had ever seen. That in his eyes she was perfect and enchanting and adorable. But the fate had something else planned for him. Adrian had to resist his enchanting fantasy and stay in the shadows.
Finally, after a few minutes, Adrian sighted a boy coming from the same direction that Jennifer was facing. Her face lit up the moment she saw him. Darius!!!! Jennifer was going on a date with Darius? No! That was impossible. They weren't even close. Was Kurt still using Darius to hurt Jennifer. No, that wasn't possible. Adrian had destroyed him completely. He wouldn't dare.
When Darius approached Jennifer, she greeted him politely. Darius followed Jennifer inside the café. From afar, Adrian could only see them going. He was bound by the darkness, the shadows. Adrian watched Jennifer go away from him. His heart breaking. Adrian felt helpless and weak.
The all powerful master Adrian was impotent and vulnerable in front of this single girl. He guy that probably was the nightmare of ninety-five percent of the rich class was thrown away like a daydream by this one girl. Why did she have so much power over me? What did she do? She was ordinary, like most other girls but she had control over the most dangerous beast in him. Something that even his own parents weren't even able to get.
This is the irony of love.
