Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: Enchanted Armor Plan!

Enchanting! The act of infusing a spell to an object or a living being. Essentially, it's the basics of casting a curse or a blessing.

I am currently in my room, scribbling glyphs and runes as I had promised.

Now you would ask, why in the world am I enchanting Bartfort's armor when I am not sure whether they'll betray me at any moment. What a stupid Idea, right? WRONG!

Do you know what is the fastest way to win a man? It's by giving them something cool! Like an expansive watch, an amazing car or an exclusive VIP ticket to some sport event!

Now if I give Bartfort, who's from what I could see is obsessed with swordsmanship and the knights code, an armor and weapon enchanted with spells that will make him even more of a perfect knight than he already is! Wouldn't that make him think twice before killing me?

Now of course, I am not going to give him power without a safety net, because underneath the protection spells, the sharpness boost and fire enchantment I placed on his gear, I also cast a curse.

The trigger for the curse is simple, by accepting the enchantments on the gear, you will never be able to attack me and if you do, you will be subjected to an atrociously painful death. Think of it as a contract of sort, one with a penalty that results in death that is...(He'll be fine so long as he doesn't attack me).

On the next day I went to Bartfort and gave him the armor. I asked him to come to the open space at the center of the fortress to try out the armor so I could calibrate a few settings to suit his fighting style and explain what kind of enchantments I had placed on his gear.

I started with the armor We tried it by making him wear it and hitting him with a bat.

we tried it by shooting arrows at him from different angles and having him dodge them and try a few parcour moves.

That explained itself he was going to try it in a real battle later

I explained

He swung his sword left and right stirring the wind before saying

I smiled

Just before wrapping everything up, the unexpected happened.

An opportunity presented itself to show off my work sooner then later when the guard tower signalled a monster raid moments before the barrier got attacked.

Bang! Bang! Bang! With each hit, the barrier grew weaker and weaker and it was only a question of time before it broke down completely.

However under his leadership, Bartfort lead the knights to battle, slaying the monsters one after another with impressive moves and commandership.

All slain monsters were absorbed into the barrier which fixed it in record time. And soon after, the battle ended with no casualties!

The performance he had shown, fighting in the middle of a monster horde with the enchanted gear I had made for him attracted the attention of the knights making their opinion of spellcraft a little bit positive.

And right after the battle, Lukretus showed up at my door asking me to enchant his and his knights armors with the same spells. Greedy for the tools that had his soon to be brother in law attract all the knights attention.

I obviously agreed and enchanted everyones gear with the same enchantment and curse.

Everything was going as planned, they are more useful on completing the mission and at the same time they can't attack me without facing terrible consequences!

So with a smile, I gave them their gear the following day before setting off to complete the mission.

Boy, you people are dancing in the palm of my hands, go ahead use my enchantments! Let this curse latch onto your hearts and make sure it stops beating the moment you try and attack me!
