Chereads / Tamed The General / Chapter 22 - TWENTY TWO

Chapter 22 - TWENTY TWO

On a cloudy day, Yujin was suddenly surprised by Hyuki's arrival. The man with a worried face looked at her and hugged her tightly. She happily accepted the hug while sobbing on Lee Hyuki's shoulder.

Right now she really needed someone to calm her chaotic heart. After they had a big fight this morning, Jinwoo just left without saying anything. He left Yujin alone at home with a broken heart because of his every deed and sharp words.

"What really happened?" asked Hyuki softly. This afternoon he met Jinwoo at the headquarters and his best friend immediately asked him to come to the house. Apparently all this time Jinwoo knew that him and Yujin were quite close. Even Jinwoo knew that yesterday Hyuki had come to his house. Guess what, Lee Jinwoo knew because the guards at his house reported it. But what made him rush to Jinwoo's house this afternoon was because the man told him that Yujin was in need of him.

"Oppa, how come General Lee never once understood me? Why should I understand him?" asked Yujin hoarsely.

Hyuki tried to calm Yujin down and brought Yujin to sit on the maroon sofa which used to be Jinwoo's white sofa that she had replaced.

"Didn't I tell you not to go too far into Jinwoo's life. You will definitely get hurt. Back off if you can't handle it. Jinwoo is not an ordinary man like you know out there. Jinwoo is different. He is a ruthless man who hides many mysteries within him."

"No oppa, that's not a way out. Retreating from his life is not a way out because I've already entered into it. The only thing I have to do is survive. I believe one day General Lee will change. After all General Lee is human, and General Lee has a heart." Yujin said confidently.

Hyuki let out a resigned breath while looking concerned at Yujin. The earnestness that radiated from Yujin's eyes looked like a blazing fire in his eyes. Yujin is the type of stubborn woman who doesn't easily sway with just one problem like this. And he was sure Yujin would keep going no matter what.

"Are you ready for whatever happens to you? Jinwoo's rude attitude, cruel attitude and cold attitude, are you ready to face them?"

"I'm always ready oppa. Actually I'm sad not because General Lee hurt me physically, but I'm sad because he hurt my heart. He openly gave me permission to divorce. Even though you know that all this time I've been trying desperately to be by his side. But he just wanted to let me go. What woman doesn't get sick when the man she loves says that so easily?" said Yujin fiery.

Hyuki gently stroked Yujin's shoulder to calm the emotional turmoil that was raging inside Yujin. It was not easy to face Lee Jinwoo, but he was sure that Yujin could do it. Slowly.

"I'm always with you. Tell me if you need me, then I will come for you."

"Thank you oppa. I love you," said Yujin full of emotion while hugging Hyuki tightly.

Unbeknownst to them, someone was spying on them from a distance, taking aim at every moment they created. The man grinned satisfied with his shot and immediately walked away from the house before the other guards noticed his existence who had been secretly disguised as one of the guards at Jinwoo's house to inform the boss who had paid him.

Jinwoo this afternoon came to the office as usual. Wearing the uniform of the South Korean people's pride that was green in color and thick-soled boots, Jinwoo stepped proudly into the meeting room on the eighth floor. This afternoon he received a call to complete a mission. A secret mission, but this time the mission was a little different than usual. In this mission he probably won't need violence. Instead he was required to be a gentle man who felt so disgusting for him. He was forced to change his ingrained coldness with a gentle nature which was the silliest pretense in his life.

"The minister is waiting inside sir," reported one of his men who was his secretary.

In the military world, Lee Jinwoo remained like the general leaders who had a secretary to manage his entire schedule. He not only performs his duties in the field, but sometimes he has to solve the country's internal problems which he thinks are full of drama and cunning from the people in it.

"Hmm, I'll see him soon."

Jinwoo pulled the iron door in front of him and bowed his head briefly at an old man in a suit who had been waiting for him in the room. The man smiled at his arrival and told Jinwoo to immediately sit next to him because he had an important mission for Jinwoo to carry out.

"Sorry general, maybe I'm interrupting your time with your wife a bit," said Kang Eunjo to Jinwoo as an opening.

Jinwoo did not really respond to Mr. Kang's words which were trite sentences. Instead, he immediately discussed his new mission which was clearly written in the documents in front of him.

"What are the crimes?" Jinwoo asked directly while flipping through the document.

Kang Eunjo shrugged his shoulders briefly and began to seriously talk about his new mission for Jinwoo. It didn't matter to him if Jinwoo didn't pay attention to his small talk. Instead he was happy if Jinwoo immediately welcomed his new mission without the need to talk about unimportant things.

"Money laundering, extortion, and involvement with some corrupt officials. She had always been hiding behind her beautiful mask. What do you think?"

"Horrible. A master con artist and a manipulative person. Why didn't you intend to catch her in the first place? Her actions in the world of politics have been around for a long time since she succeeded in using one of the officials and draining all his wealth. Not to mention that she has also been rumored to have used her popularity to help a member of the council run for regional head in the Gwang-ju district. Her crimes are many, but why is not one of the top brass of this country interested in catching her?"

Jinwoo bombarded Kang Eunjo with a barrage of his well-targeted analysis. Since the first their targets are dangerous people. However, because that person has the support of several important officials in Korea, her crimes can be neatly hidden without being detected by others. But still that person has a weakness. And Kang Eunjo knew that the person's weakness was in Jinwoo.

"I was waiting for the right moment. This person has a lot of support from state officials. If you catch her, then we'll get other baddies. Are you ready for your mission this time?"

"I'm always ready, Mr. Kang Eunjo. It is my responsibility to protect this country from bad people."

"That means you are ready with all the risks you will face. Your family, your wife, may be in danger."

Jinwoo half smiled and showed his arrogant side to the old man in front of him. From the beginning, challenging danger was his job. No matter he had a family he had to worry about at home, he would still face every enemy with his head held high without ever being afraid. His family matters, he will still protect them in his own way. So there was no reason for him to be afraid of the dangerous missions that were given to him.

"I'm always ready for all the risks. I will carry out this mission as soon as possible and give you the results. I'm sure that person will easily fall into my trap." Jinwoo said confidently with his signature sly grin.

Kang Eunjo fully entrusted the mission to Jinwoo and he did not make any demands. He was sure that Jinwoo would do well. But before leaving the meeting room, Kang Eunjo felt intrigued to ask about the cold general's life which was quite mysterious. Previously he thought Jinwoo would not be able to be bothered because the man was still in a newlywed mood. But this morning he was surprised by his assistant's report that since yesterday Jinwoo had even been actively coming to the headquarters as usual. That then became a big question for Kang Eunjo, does Jinwoo not need time to have fun with his wife? Is the rumor true, Jinwoo married just to strengthen his position in the Seoul military?

"You won't be on honeymoon, general?"

"Not." Jinwoo replied curtly. The man was seen waiting for Kang Eunjo to leave the meeting room. But unfortunately the old man leaned back on the sofa he was sitting on and asked him a topic that was quite sentimental for him. Moreover, he just had a fight with Yujin, again. Actually it didn't affect him at all. After all he had told Hyuki to calm Yujin down at home because he obviously wouldn't be able to do that. Later he would go home and act as usual to Yujin, as if nothing had happened between them.

"Don't you need more intimate time alone with your wife? I thought you weren't going to get married, general," said Kang Eunjo chuckling softly.

Jinwoo thinned his lips and looked at the old man sharply. He was fed up with the question. Almost everyone will surely ask the same thing. Was he wrong to marry Yujin? And after marriage he must honeymoon in romantic places? Why do people bother thinking about his married life, when he himself doesn't seem to care about all that. After all, why did he go on a honeymoon? If he wanted he could spend hours at home making love to Yujin like any married couple. But he didn't want to. Not before Yujin was sure of her bleak future because she chose to stay with him.

"I don't need a honeymoon. If I want, I can make love to my wife anywhere and anytime. For now my priority is to protect the country. The minister of law of the country shouldn't have to discuss such unimportant matters, Mr. Kang Eunjo. Isn't that a private matter for me and my wife?" Jinwoo said flatly and full of satire.

Kang Eunjo who received a pretty harsh satire immediately shut his lips tightly and immediately said goodbye to leave the largest military headquarters in South Korea. Indirectly Jinwoo had kicked him out and told him to quickly leave the headquarters because Jinwoo apparently didn't like the topic.

"Then I will go general. Sorry for interfering in your personal affairs and I wish you the best of luck with your mission."

Jinwoo nodded briefly and escorted Mr. Kang Eunjo to the exit of the meeting room. After that he asked his secretary to take Mr. Kang out of the main door of the headquarters. He himself chose to go to his office and began to draw up a plan to complete his mission. This time he might invite some people to play with who can help him to quickly complete the mission.

"Yujin… She would be the right person to enter my game." Jinwoo muttered with a sly grin imagining his brilliant plan.
