Marvin strode toward the exit.
Cathy subconsciously rejected, "there's no need to...."
"I have to go to work too." Marvin reminded her.
Cathy had nothing more to say. Only then did she remember that Marvin had just become her new CEO yesterday, hence, they were working in the same office. It was just on the way for him to send her off.
After getting in the car, Cathy sat against the car door and turned her head towards the window, staring at the outside world without saying word. She was trying to shrink her presence as much as possible.
Marvin looked at her with a thoughtful glance. Then, he took out his laptop and began to deal with his own business.
No one spoke in the car, and they stayed quiet all the way. When they were about to arrive at the office, Cathy turned to look at Marvin and said,
"I'll get off here."
Marvin looked out of the window. There was still a long way from this point to the company, and it was a little remote here as there were no passer-by on the road.
Marvin stared at Cathy and pursed his thin lips. He didn't say a word, and there was a slight dissatisfaction on his face.
Cathy felt a little guilty. She quickly explained, I don't want that the employees of the company see us together.
We are not going to announce our marriage to the public yet. Beside that, I'm used to drinking soybean milk in the restaurant before going to work everyday.
"I'll get off here and go to buy some."
This place was about two or three hundred meters away from the soy milk store. And she could visit the store before going to work. However, there many people, and most of them were employees of the company.
Marvin's face turned slightly gloomy, even though, knowing that Cathy is right.
He ordered, "Assistant Lim, open the door."
Cathy heaved a sign of relief and quickly got out of the car.
The rear window was lifting up, Marvin's face was indifferent, and he did not even give her a single glance as the window slowly shut.
He was all high and mighty.
Cathy froze for a moment and did not say anything else as she watched Marvin's car drive off.
When Cathy arrived at the company and was about to clock in, she was stunned upon seeing the time displayed on the card.
It was 9:10 am.
She deliberately walked slowly as she didn't want to encounter Marvin in the company, but she didn't notice the time. She was ten minutes late!
" I'm screwed."
"There's even a company meeting today!" She thought.
She had no time to check into the Department of Design, so she ran directly to the conference room.
This was a conference room that could contain thousands of people and important meeting were usually held here.
At this moment, a few hundreds pairs of eyes were staring at Cathy, scrutinizing her in dissatisfaction.
Cathy stood at the door, holding the documents awkwardly.
"Sorry, I'm late."
As soon as he finished speaking, she saw Marvin, was sitting on the main seat unexpectedly.
"Is he the host of today's meeting?" She thought. She suddenly felt even more embarrassed.
