Chapter 1 - Death

-MC POV-

So uh, yeah, shit.

I'm dead.

I already had an existential crisis a few hours ago about how I wanted to go back to my previous life and stop this afterlife bullshit as I was literally just browsing through reddit, and suddenly died, without even getting a proper goodbye from my parents and friends for fuck's sake. So yeah, you don't have to worry about 12 hours of sad dialogue talking about my life anymore.

I'm not exactly sure how I died but if what my blurry memories tell me isn't a scam, then after hearing the explosion, a high-speed thing of something hit through the window, and eventually me, right in the jugular, probably straight through my entire brain stem, effectively destroying it, making me unconscious, and I probably died there.

I'm still trying to recover from what the hell happened, and tried to keep telling myself that this was all a dream, but nope, it's real. Better than having schizophrenia I guess.

Anyways, my name is Carlos Puta (don't think too much about it) I'm 17 years old bored from lock down due to the pandemic, had decent upbringing, doing pretty well in my online classes, had nerdy friends-of-the-same feather, and all was going well, until the putanginang explosion hit me.

So that's sad.

I woke up a few hours ago, and found out that I'm currently a... Floating blob of light, or something like that? And I have a HUD thing in front of me. There are two buttons that I can somehow "press" just by thinking of it.

These buttons are basically POVs. First, and Third POV.

It was really weird. Having no physical entity for a body like this feels like I'm... flow-y? Like as if I'm a body of water flowing in a continuous circular motion? Its hard to explain but I tell you it's really fucking trippy, but since I also have not taken any sort of Hallucinogens before and not know what tripping actually feels like, I'm just gonna say I got really dizzy, except also not dizzy at the same time.

I'm in a rather conflicted and confusing state of existence right now so bear with me here.

With 3rd POV, I can change the view of my perspective, so to speak, to look at myself. I found out that I'm some sort of glowing blob in a completely dark void space, and I can't move. I can change my perspective but I can't move this light body of mine 'physically' or whatever I am.

I discovered that I could zoom-in and out from myself by just imagining an index finger and thumbs pinching or releasing. There seems to be a limit on how much I can zoom in or out too, maybe a just a few meters, but if we're talking about it realistically over here since I don't have rulers and objects as references nor do I have any limbs to use said objects to actually measure distance relative to my position, for all I know the distance could be in the microscopic scale or could be in kilometers.

Its like I'm playing a VR version of War Thunder, if I'm to be honest, except it's not VR and I'm actually in it.

In 3rd POV, I can also move my "camera" or my view as if it completely orbits the blob of light that I assume to be my body, like my only trajectory is in a sphere that I can zoom in and out, looking towards that ball of light, making me deduce that it is my body, or a placeholder of something like that.

I turned it back to the first person mode and looked around from the point of view of that blob of light.

Yep, still darkness.

It's been hours, I think, since I've been in this room, but I'm not sure if time passes the same from Earth and whatever this place is.

*Ding*

Huh, what's that noise? Must've been the wind.

[Loading Flak Tower System...]

Definitely not the wind, not that there's wind in the first place, what the hell was I thinking when I thought of wind?

[Hello motherfucker.]

"AHHHHHHH! Ahhh, ohh, uhh, what the fuck? Did I hear right? Did someone talk to me disrespectfully out of the literal blue? Hello? Where are you? Anyone there?"

I said in my disembodied voice which doesn't actually sound too different from my normal voice when I was a human, minus the slight reverb. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

"Huh, I can actually talk."

[Yes you can. And if you don't have a clue where you are right now, then, one word: isekai.]

I looked around the dark space to see where the sound came from and I just noticed that a small emoticon/pixelated face-thing popped up into my HUD thing, making me conclude that's where the sound came from.

"So you're in my head. Great, so we're going with cliche huh?'

[Damn right you are.]

"Yikes, it was actually true, the isekai thing."

[Yep, and I'll be your system that'll guide you with whatever bullshit you do in this world, and help you survive.]

"By the way, where the hell were you hours ago? You took so long to get here that it gave me time to contemplate about everything, and I'm not sure I like it.,"

[Ah, sorry. There was a delay, I was admitting a few other souls to their respective isekai worlds, making clones of myself to make their own systems, and the list was kinda long so it took me a while to get to you.]

"Hm, so, if everything is what I thinks it's gonna be, this is the afterlife, right?"

[Yep.]

"Okay, so, uh, do you have a name?"

[I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Author, and I'll be here to help you out in your journey of whatever you'll be reincarnating into.]

"Author?"

[Uh, um, sorry, I misspoke. What I meant was Arthur. Anyways, I'm your s-]

"Arthur?..."

[Er, uh, Arthur with a British accent, that's why it sounded like "Aw-thuh". Yes, so yeah, my tongue kinda slipped there. Anyways like I said earl-]

"Do you even have a tongue?"

[You know what, just shut up would ya? Stop interrupting me and listen to what I have to say dammit!]

"Geez, alright man. I just needed to make sure and clarify. Now go on."

[Finally. Now, Carlos... Puta... Uh...]

"I know, don't judge."

[*Ehem* you will be sent to a fantasy world with swords and magic, as you would have probably guessed.]

"Well that's fun and all, but can you give me the option of returning back to my world? You know, since I died so fucking bizarrely and I haven't gotten to experience life much. I had something going for me back then until that shit happened, so I would prefer going back, please."

[Huh. That was, unexpected. Normally, people like you usually just accept fate and become all gung ho when it comes to isekai.]

"Well sadly mister 'Aw-thuh' that's not how it goes for all people, and as much as how much I would be interested in the prospect of being reincarnated in another world, I still have my family, internet, games, modern luxuries, and friends back home, among many other things. You think I would just stand idly by without even trying to find away back and give up on that life when I practically got decapitated to death?"

[I guess... You do have a point. Damn, this author is stupid for choosing you in the first place.]

"So, is there a way for me to go back or what?"

[Sadly, no. Regardless on how bizarre it may seem, you still died and that's what matters, and I am unable to make anymore compromises. You will be reincarnated, whether you like it or not. So whatever ambitions you had in your old life, might as well give up on it.]

"Oh great. This is bullshit, but whatever. I already exhausted my mind from contemplating everything earlier. I just hope everyone back home is alright, and not be too mentally scarred from my passing and play astronomia during my funeral. *Sigh*"

I said solemnly.

"Welp, if this is how shit is gonna go down, might as well provide information about what the hell and where the hell am I getting reincarnated into, right, Mr. Aw-thuh?"

[I said Arthur, dammit!] He(probably a he) said with the emoticon turning into a hilariously furious face.

"Hehe."

[Anyways, don't worry, I will inform you of everything once you get transported there. I'll just plop you into the world, and you'll know what you are. Also, you don't have to worry about danger, since you might be a tad too big for that just yet.]

"Welp, that's convenient I guess. Also, what do you mean by 'a tad too big'?"

[Oh you'll know. See you on the flip side!]

"Wait a second, I'm still a bit conf-uUUAHHHHHHHHHH-"

A hole appeared and I felt like, just now, gravity suddenly became a thing and somehow took hold of me, and made me fall to a bright shining light on the ground...
