Breakfast went by like always, adults talking their plan for the day ahead out, kids laughing at themselves for no obvious reason.
All these go on until Dammy's ear picks a piece of information up from the top news; he turns to the television and reaches for the controller to increase the volume.
Something strange happened at the city's general hospital late last night. Nobody knows how it happened but the blood bank went dry.
The hospital is ready to pay the blood donors finely. They urgently need O-positive Blood type.
This is his chance of making next month roll but he is not O. The only o in the house is his is lovely sister, Folake before he could start planning
"The blood bank runs dry all of the sudden in just one night?" Uncle Mulero's voice echoes around the four walls of the dining room "what is going on in this city, are people now using blood for money rituals?"
"Strange things happen in this country but blood_ and that too just a random collection_ what is this about and there are also rumors of evil spirits roaming the hospital premises" his wife added.
Uncle Mulero and his wife are birds of a feather.
His wife is always full of myth and superstition, streaming with the latest rumors in the locality. Has she ever supported a progressive cause, he hissed inwards.
"Nonsense, those lazy educated brat must have forgotten to maintain the bank and when it leaks they want everyone to panic with them, let them regret for all I care" That annoying aunt of his.
She should be decaying in mud 'for all he cares'.
His mother soft fragile voice comes up with more hope "I pray they find donors soon, people are always in need of blood"
"Especially sickle cells like you" his aunt hissed before facing her mother with a bit humility.
She added, "My Sister, all you know is to pray and wish, what have you really done in life, you are a sickle cell remember."
Pot calling kettle black all because she has strong bones and more fats which gets her no suitors.
"Don't talk to your sister like that, kike" His grandmother pleaded
"Let her go on with it, as she could call out her children for errands" He said before storming out of the dining room "
That spoilt!"
"Kike, that's enough let have breakfast and not break fist"
"No one should make any more trouble, let all eat" His aunt would have said something but Uncle Mulero added "in peace"
