Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Apathia, there was a righteous queen, who ruled with a gentle hand. She loved her people and the kingdom prospered. All the citizens were in a mood of glee when her majesty conveys to her kingdom that she is to bare a son.
The kingdom rejoices with this news and each night a new festival is had. For the weeks to come, the queen is as joyful as can be, but there are some, who despite the prosperity and happiness, want nothing more than to see her majesty suffer.
With this gleeful time, comes someone out of the shadows who plans to kidnap the boy and heir to the throne. When the time is right at the dead of night, a few months past the boy's birth, this darkness sweeps into the castle walls and kidnaps the boy from his crib and leaves into the night. Leaving only his signet ring, a ring made of pure steel with an obsidian gem in the center.
After the crime is noticed, the kingdom is in chaos trying to find the whereabouts of the heir. Sadly, no one is more terrified than the queen herself. Many nights come and go but no sign of the boy is found, the queen, with a broken heart, declares her son, dead.
