Chapter 54 - Book 5: The King

"My King, there are rumors the great evil witch has returned. With her is a team of evil never before seen," one of the ministers said with urgency, in his hands are accounts of the evil witch's sudden reappearance.

"I confirm this my king. I have personally been notified by the Holy Order of the Knights," the red-haired Captain of the royal knights spoke up. Her green jade-like eyes narrowed expressing her anger and dismay over the news.

"From the information that has been gathered, the most notable of her allies are a yellow-haired puppeteer named Fries; a white-haired woman named Cross, who they say can create an element they dubbed as electricity; a red-caped girl known as Red for her ability to summon the dead; a bewitching lady called Heart; and the couple who called themselves as King and Queen, as a way of mockery to your royal highness," Priestess Cinderella notified the King of the unfortunate news.

They are having an emergency meeting because of the fast-spreading rumors involving the evil witch who has been banished from their kingdom five years ago.

The King did not look at all mortified, his face was calm as it always has been. No, if one looks closely, in his eyes was glee, happiness that requires a deeper understanding. A happiness he himself did not understand.

"I was a prince when I managed to drive her away from the Kingdom. What can she do to me, now that I have taken my role as the King? You panic over nothing," King Jiro laughed, somehow a lighthearted laugh. A burst of laughter he has not been able to make ever since the witch left the palace.

Priestess Cinderella's eyes widened for she has tried to make the prince laugh like this for five years and he has barely even smiled. But now he can laugh so carelessly like the news is something to celebrate about.

For five years he has craved this excitement, and has failed. Everything in his kingdom became nothing to him but a sad joke.

He couldn't even find happiness at the knowledge that she might have died. He searched the kingdom far and wide using posters with Cinderella's priestess seal asking if they had seen anyone who resembles the evil witch even slightly.

He even went as far as visiting neighboring kingdoms, no even kingdoms far from the Kingdom of Belmore, he has searched, raided even in the name of war, just to find her once again.

Now the evil witch has finally returned. His evil witch. He finds contentment in the fact that they will finally see each other once again.

And this time, the witch will not be able to escape. He will lay all the traps, he will make every move count. He will have her. The witch he is meant to fight.

Truly, this must all be because of how much he truly hated her. That woman he has longed to see and visited his every dream.

The one with the heartfelt chuckle of an enchantress. The woman who wreaked havoc in his kingdom. The witch who dared to disturb the peace. His peace.

He hated her so much that he craved her mere existence. The knowledge that she is alive, with the energy she brings, with the wicked laughter she makes whenever they meet, and those beautiful dark eyes that clearly belong to a wicked enchantress.

"Tell me, where is she?" The King's bright golden eyes looked into his comrades as the delightful excitement spread through his bones at the knowledge of the witch's return.

"I have found her, at last," the King maniacally laughed as his officers looked at him with fear in their hearts, their minds filled with worry that maybe the King has lost all sense of reasons.
