Chereads / The Legend of the Fox Demon / Chapter 41 - Absolute Domination

Chapter 41 - Absolute Domination

Premonition is the foresight demons and angels receive upon fighting the classes that they counter. It is an invaluable tool during combat, or a horrible curse. Those who've been on the receiving end of premonition will display their hatred for it. Those who've only been on its good side with rave about it.

Premonition is different for everyone. When fighting someone stronger than you, your premonition won't be as strong. While if you are fighting someone weaker than you, your premonition will seem stronger.

Premonition is a contest of soul realm size. The maximum amount of premonition one can receive in battle is an entire second. The stronger your opponent is, the less premonition you have. If you have the weakest soul realm on the planet and went up against the strongest, you'd have the minimum amount of premonition. The minimum amount is a singular millisecond, or 0.001 seconds.

The rarest phenomenon in regard to premonition, is of course achieving the maximum premonition of an entire second. This phenomenon is called, 'Absolute Domination.' It can only be achieved when someone's soul realm is so incredibly dominating in terms of size, that the opponent can't compare.

Only the kings and princes can consistently achieve this effect, but in extremely rare cases, even they won't be able to trigger it.

The only exception is, of course, the first prince. Whenever they are in the presence of others and premonition triggers, they enter a state of understanding that very little achieve, much less can comprehend.

If a dealer can comprehend that a bullet will be fired at them and deflect it with only a fraction of a second, what would happen with an entire second? Absolute domination is the answer.

Leo, Andrew, Faust, and Luke were in the sewers situating themselves. They were getting prepared to leave when the manhole cover they entered from opened. They all stopped what they were doing and looked up.

It was deathly silent as dim light and rain entered from the hole. Eventually a body fell down the hole sloppily. The body pulled itself slightly with an arm and went to a wall to rest against. It looked over with a bloody face, revealing themselves to be a proctor.

Solomon looked at the four with a sorry expression as blood slowly oozed out of a stump where their arm used to be. The arm that dragged themselves to the wall, now clutching that area slowing the bleeding.

Then a sword fell down the hole as someone began climbing down the steps. That person turned, revealing themselves to be the gunslinger doll.

"I was informed that an interesting person would be in here. Which of you is that?" The doll said with their foot on Solomon's sword.

Leo spoke to his squad in a low voice, "I'm ordering you three to leave. Take Junior to the drop off point."

Seeing that as an Answer, the doll asked Leo, "Revolver, or a sword?"

"Sword."

"Are you mad?!" Andrew yelled.

"It's an order Andrew. Leave and finish the mission, I'll be fine."

"That's a goddamn archangel! You cannot possibly be so stupid-"

"Just leave while I'm holding him back idiot!" Leo shouted back through gritted teeth.

Andrew recoiled a bit when he heard that. He clenched his fists and turned to grab Avery Junior's dead body. The other two hesitated but forced themselves to turn and leave.

When Leo saw their departing bodies, he turned back to the doll who had their head slightly tilted.

"She said you'd be like her. That didn't seem like something she'd do."

"Kick over the sword, it's hard to go all out when people are watching. A sewer is pretty discrete don't you think?"

"Maybe I spoke too soon." The doll laughed slightly through their nose.

"Hey, did you hear what I said?" Leo said while looking at Solomon.

He weakly rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was just about to get some shut eye anyway. Sorry for interrupting you, your majesty." He said sarcastically and with another eye roll.

He'd probably soil his pants if he figured out he was speaking to a prince.

He closed his eyes and sat himself upright to get more comfortable. Seeing him close his eyes, the doll kicked the sheathed sword over to Leo. Leo leaned down and lifted it up, taking it out of its cover.

He swung it a few times to get used to its weight while the doll drew their revolvers and checked them. A moment of silence went by before the two were prepared to fight.

Leo raised the sword towards the angel. Then premonition started kicking in. In a second, the doll would fire all twelve rounds in the two revolvers. This meant that Leo's only choice was to dodge them.

Leo launched himself forward towards the angel and lowered his body. Then his premonition changed, the angel didn't fire their gun but rather threw a kick.

Interestingly, premonition isn't something that generally changes. The slight future sights people see usually happen fast enough where the future is definite. But the greater the advantage one has, the likelier the chance that you can change the future. That means that someone with absolute dominance is much likelier to change the future.

Leo dodged the kick and swung his sword to the angel's neck at blinding speeds. Leo saw that he'd dodge it, so he swung again at an angel that was difficult to dodge. The doll raised their gun and the sword dug deep into it. The gun slipped through the dolls grasp and was stuck in Leo's sword.

Leo pulled the sword away and the gun was attached to it by the barrel. Leo kicked the gun away onto the floor and a large hole was in the gun. The sword had a large chip in its edge where it struck the revolver. In his premonition, Leo saw the doll fire at him, and Leo let it happen, deflecting the bullet to the side. The next round fired past Leo and ricocheted off the wall and down the sewer.

Leo swiped the sword to the side and struck the doll's arm, drawing a large amount of blood. The doll fell backwards and clutched their arm.

"Haah… Haah… Haah…" They panted heavily, they said with a chuckle, "Maybe fighting a dealer in a sewer wasn't the best idea."

Leo brought the sword to the doll's neck and held it against it. He thought for a moment about what he still needed to do in the city. He had yet to be arrested and he needed to do that. It was important for his plans down the line.

Leo took the sword away from the doll's neck and bent down. With his face next to the doll, he leaned over and grabbed the gun in their hand. He looked at it momentarily and then he tossed it to the side before standing back up.

He turned and began walking away.

"Not going to kill me?"

"…" Leo remained silent.

"I see why Lady Elinor likes you."

Leo stopped for a moment when he heard the name. Then he continued leaving, he said as he walked away, "Do me a favor and take the proctor to a hospital or something. Oh, and call the cops on me or something, I dunno."

"Yeah, I'll do that when I go to the hospital." They chuckled as Leo left.

Leo started walking away when he noticed someone watching him from behind a wall.

"Did they leave you behind?" Leo asked as he saw Faust slouched against a wall.

"No, it just didn't feel right leaving you here." He said weakly.

"Well thanks. Come on, let's get out of this place."

"Alright."

Leo bent over and helped the weak Faust up; they then slowly made their way out of the sewer.

"By the time we actually got out, it was around the time we met up." Leo said to Max.

Max was silent as he thought about the stuff Leo had gone through. John was silent as he drove along, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel, deep in thought.

The car descended to silence as they drove to the meeting point with everyone else. After a few more minutes, John finally opened his mouth.

"We're here." He pulled into an abandoned warehouse, and they all got out. John took the lead and brought the others into the building and took them to a room. Upon entering the room, Luke and Andrew turned towards Leo.

Seeing his bloody figure, they all began freaking out.

"What the hell happened?! We leave you alone for a day and you end up like this?! Did that doll gun person thing do this?!" Andrew yelled as he ran up to Leo.

"Uhhh. No. If you want to get technical, it was another doll, but even then, no. Also, why are you acting like an overprotective grandma, I'm fine."

Luke went over and whispered in Leo's ear, "He feels bad for leaving you and Faust behind."

"Oh, alright. That makes sense."

"Are we going to go get Faust now?"

"Slow your roll kid, Mathias hasn't even eaten today. Also, we're wanted criminals, even more wanted than you two numbskulls, so no, we're not heading to a public hospital to grab Faust. Solomon is grabbing him, he'll be back in a bit, he's the dealer you saw."

"How's his arm?" Leo asked.

"Eh, missing, but he'll be fine." John said with a shrug as he went to make food to satiate his stomach. Oh, and to feed Leo.

Leo then started recounting what happened to him as the other's began looking towards Max.

"Who's he?"

"A friend."

"How'd you meet."

"I met Leo after he had fallen off a roof and broken his legs." Max said suddenly.

Leo turned slowly with piercing eyes as his cheeks reddened slightly.

"…"

The room went silent and Leo eventually continued retelling his story while they waited to eat and for Faust to arrive.
