Chapter 21 - THE MIRROR CHURCH

Xion knocked at the door. Abel opened the door.

"Do you know where Ikaria is?" Xion asked.

"No, I don't," Abel said, closing the door.

Xion stopped him from closing it. He barged into it.

"I think you know," Xion said.

Xion told Abel that Ikaria was in the maze. Xion with kindness asked about the exit plan of Ikaria.

"I don't know what you are talking about," Abel said.

"OK...I give only one chance,"

Xion powered up, his eyelids started to fire up with the mixture of colors of all the elements. His hands were started to glow. He grabbed Abel and pushed him hard on the wall. The cracks appeared on the wall but soon disappeared.

"You are attacking a fellow member..." Abel said, getting powered up.

"...what will happen when Master Wayne gets to know…,"

Abel eyelids also started to fire up with green color and his hands were started to glow.

"Don't worry about Master Wayne," Xion said

"Worry about yourself,"

"You worry...you need it," Abel said, getting out of Xion's hand. Abel held Xion's hand and half-twisted it.

"How is it possible...you can't defeat me," Xion wondered, getting on his knees.

"Yes, I can," Able said, feeling almighty.

Suddenly Dakota broke the door. She was all powered up, eyelids were firing up with red color and hands were too glowing. She walked inside.

"IMPERIUM" Dakota incanted, making a fist.

Abel lost control over his body. He was forced to leave Xion's hand and was lifted to the ceiling. Dakota helped Xion.

"Are you okay?" Dakota asked.

"Why are you here?"

"You took so much time," Dakota said.

Xion left. Dakota walked closer to Abel.

"Start talking..." Dakota threatened.

"I don't know much but I can get back Sophie..." Abel said, feeling the pain of bones being breaking.

Dakota released him. Abel fell to the ground, he gasped and healed himself.

"Hello," Xion answered Dakota's call.

"Meet me at the front of, 'THE MIRROR CHURCH'," Dakota said and disconnected the call.

"Let's go,"

Xion and Laura were waiting at the front of the church. Dakota joined them with Abel. The church from the outside appeared very small. There were no windows not even small holes for ventilation. They had to bent down a little to get inside, the gate was small in length.

"Why it is called Mirror church?" Laura asked.

"There aren't any mirrors,"

"Right, I have been here many times but never spotted a one," Dakota said.

"You all haven't seen anything," Abel said, walking followed by the rest.

The church was bigger than it appeared from outside. It could be estimated according to the number of benches that were lying empty there, the church could accommodate more than hundreds of people or even more than that if the breath of the building was infinite. Other than that the place was not different from the normal church. The church was too brightened by the chandeliers. They all stood in front of the end wall. Abel ran his finger on the wall, was making some pattern but unclear. Xion and Dakota saw each other. As Abel stopped, a door opened in the wall.

"Let's go," Abel said.

"First you," Dakota said.

"Hold each other," Abel said.

Abel lead, Laura held his shoulder followed by Dakota then Xion at the last. They walked inside the door in the wall. As they all stepped inside the door disappeared and it got dark.

"Laura, light," Xion said.

"Don't bother, it won't work," Abel said.

"Magic doesn't work here,"

"Hold onto him tighter," Dakota whispered into Laura's ear.

They walked together at a slow pace for many minutes. After a while, they started to see light at the end. They stepped into a cylindrical building made up of mirrors. No matter where they revolved their heads all they could able to see from side to side was only walls of mirrors. Though they weren't normal mirrors.

"People thought it disappeared a long time ago," Abel said.

"Now, only...few people know,"

"How do you know about this place," Dakota asked.

Abel did not answer instead he smirked.

"Wait..." Laura wondered, shifting the attention.

"Why we aren't seeing ourselves,"

Abel chuckled.

"They aren't mirrors...they are prisons," Abel said.

"Prison," Dakota wondered.

Abel speaks.

"In ancient times, according to their crimes people used to get imprisoned here...and Sophie is one of them...but sadly she is one of the deadliest prisons, THE ASYMPTOTE Maze,"

"Why Ikaria did all this?" Dakota asked.

"What...you didn't tell them," Abel said, glaring at Laura.

"What she didn't tell?" Dakota said, turning to Laura.

"Spill out," Xion said.

"Sophie is a human," Laura said.

"What...?" Dakota said.

"I think Ikaria figured it out...,"

"Why didn't you tell us before?" Xion asked.

Laura did not answer. Xion did not bother.

"Tell us how to get Sophie out?" Xion asked Abel.

Abel speaks.

"You have to be careful...two people will be tied with the rope...one will stay here and the other will go inside of the mirror to get Sophie...be careful don't touch anything there..."

Abel walked towards the maze prison, followed by others. They all saw Sophie inside the mirror.

"Sophie," Laura shouted, going closer to the mirror.

"Careful...don't go closer," Abel warned.

Laura stopped. Xion got angry as he saw Sophie struggling in there.

Xion grabbed Dakota and took her in the corner.

"We have to get her out..." Xion murmured, getting serious.

"...or else blood will be on our hands,"

"Listen to me carefully," Xion said, holding her shoulder.

"I will be tied with you...and I will go inside,"

"No, I will not let you...it's dangerous," Dakota said.

"Dakota...you have seen I was not able to defeat Abel..." Xion said, getting discouraged.

"If something goes wrong...at least you will be here to handle,"

Dakota was not satisfied with his reason or the situation but she kept quiet. Dissatisfaction was glowing on her face.

"Get the rope," Xion said, standing in front of the mirror.

Abel got down and removed a wooden plate from the ground. He handed over the rope. Dakota wrapped the one end of the rope around her waist and Xion wrapped the other end of the rope around his waist.

"Take care," Dakota said. Xion stood near her, he kissed her forehead then her lips. He started to walk towards the mirror.

"Keep an eye on him," Dakota said to Laura, glaring at Abel.

Xion goes inside, he started to hear Sophie's voice with a clear sound. He lost the view of the mirror room.

"Sophie," Xion repeated.

"Xion...it's his voice," Sophie murmured.

"Xion," Sophie repeated.

They heard each other voices.

"Xion...what are you doing here," Ikaria said, echoing.

"Ikaria...we can talk," Xion said.

"You don't have to do this,"

"Xion...she will not listen to you," Sophie said.

"Sophie...follow my voice," Xion suggested.

Sophie and Xion both moved in the direction of their voices. Slowly-slowly they started to hear their voices louder which meant they were getting closer.

"I wonder how you came here..." Ikaria said, echoing.

"...nevertheless you will die here,"

Xion and Sophie both didn't react, they continued to struggle to find themselves in the web of paths.

"Sophie...I think you are closer," Xion assumed.

"Me too," Sophie said.

As they realized that they are closer to each other they ran madly. At the crossroad, they met each other. They hugged each other, tightly.

"It's good to see you...you are fine," Xion said, seeing her.

"Thank you for coming," Sophie said, catching her breath.

Suddenly the fire flames broke out like the last time.

"She is here," Sophie murmured.

"Who?" Xion asked, in a low voice.

"Ikaria,"

Suddenly the flames torched again and Ikaria appeared behind Xion. She holds the rope from which Xion tied to Dakota.

"Behind you," Sophie said. Xion turned around.

"What will happen...if this rope gets cut," Ikaria said, smiling.

"Don't Ikaria, please," Xion pleaded.

"I beg you," Sophie said, kneeling before her.

Ikaria laughed. She took off her hand from the rope. Xion and Sophie both relieved but soon that came to end. Ikaria disconnected the rope with her strength and disappeared without wasting a single second.

"Nooo...," Xion screamed, echoing
