Sarina looked back at Manfri in confusion. Her hand was still stinging as she rested it on top of the crystal, though her blood had finally stopped flowing.
Noticing her discomfort, Manfri silently reached under the table, grabbing a strip of clean white cloth. He lifted her hand and tied the material on her wound, making her wince slightly in pain; it still felt raw. She grabbed her hand and brought it to her chest, holding it carefully.
"What does that prophecy mean" Sarina asked.
"That is something you will discover at the right time" Manfri answered cryptically. He then stood and replaced the ball back under the table after carefully cleaning off her blood.
"Wait! You told me that this would be everyone's doom and yet I don't understand what most of what you told me means. What is 'love's death' or 'the source' or 'the light'? Please, if everyone's fate depends on me then shouldn't I know how to help" Sarina said quickly, panicking.
Manfri continued to clean around his shop, paying the girl no more attention, as if she had already left.
"Sir Manfri, have you no honor!"
The older man then turned sharply and looked at her with menacing eyes that now glowed red while sneering at her. The sudden change made her jump and her heart picked up its pace.
"You still have much to learn, little girl, so I will forgive you this once for insulting a keeper" he said in a low threatening voice. "As for the prophesy, I have said before and I will say it again, you will understand when it is your time. The prophesy you just received is not complete, you will receive more when you are ready. Now Begone!"
Sarina startled and turned quickly, looking for the exit. She ran out as fast she could without looking back. The man terrified her and the information he had given her was too much. She passed the tent not looking where she was going as she ran until she crashed into someone hard. The person should have fell with the force she raced into them with, but instead, strong arms grasped her gently.
Sarina looked up and saw that it was Caspar whom she smacked into.
"I was looking for you, I was starting to get little worried Sarina, where were you" Caspar asked, looking at her withdrawn face with concern.
"I was in the caravan just behind me, the one with the dotted purple tent."
Caspar looked behind her and his face grew confused. "I don't see the one which you are describing."
"What?" Sarina turned and looked down the row, her eyes searching for the purple tent and caravan. She kept looking, completely confused, wondering where on earth the tent had just gone. It was just there!
"Its gone" Sarina whispered.
"Sarina, what's wrong? Was someone harassing you at the tent?"
"No. Nothing like that, it's ..it's just that he told me something interesting" Sarina finished vaguely, not sure how to explain what she had just heard and experienced.
"Alright, well would you like to go and visit one my favorite shops before we head back to the estate" asked Caspar, still looking concerned. He could sense she had a secret, but was not ready to share it with him. "If you are not up for it, then we can head back now."
"Let's go" Sarina said, shaking her head and trying to rid the fog of dispair that was trying to settle on her. She needed time to think about the riddle she had just heard. She wasn't sure if she should tell Caspar about the prophecy yet as well. Better to try to deal with it on her own. Sarina faked a smile at him, trying her best to look upbeat. Caspar in return frowned at her but nodded and began to walk back towards the beginning of the caravans.
Sarina followed him closely, looking at his broad back and smooth hair that was tickling his shoulders. Sarina knew nothing of attraction, she had never really felt it before. She found it strange that even his back and his hair were appealing to her. Sarina noticed that his pace picked up, so she assumed they were getting close.
She was right, and they approached a caravan with a bright pink tent, and there were tables on either side, filled with delicious looking chocolates. Sarina felt a grin spread on her face; this large, handsome manly-man was smiling from ear to ear like a child with a brand new puppy.
"Is that you, my sweetie" called a woman.
"Hello Madam Mary" Caspar called to her happily.
Out of the room behind the tent came large, older woman with a kind, round face. Her eyes were like a cat and her hair that was dusted with grey was pulled in a long braid that rested on her back. She rushed towards Caspar, swatting him playfully before pulling him in a tight embrace, shocking Sarina.
"How dare you my sweetie, calling me madam. Are you trying to reveal my age to this scrumptious creature you have brought to meet me" the woman complained in mock outrage.
Caspar just laughed, still locked in the voluptuous woman's embrace. Mary finally released him before drawing back and giving him a once over.
"You are too skinny, are you here so I can fatten you up? And why have you stayed away for so long? It has been at least 30 years!"
"I have just turned 20 and 7 Mary. And I am bigger than ever, but I would still love some of your chocolates" he soothed and smiled boyishly at her. "But first I must introduce you to Sarina. She is from the kingdom I grew up in before residing here."
"It is very nice to meet you Madam Mary" Sarina greeted shyly, bowing her head slightly.
"Look what you have done, now she calls me Madam as well" Mary acted, sighing dramatically and wiping fake tears from her eyes.
Sarina had never met a more animated person, but she enjoyed watching her and Caspar interact.
"Come in and sit" Mary invited. "I will give you both some of my best sweets and hot chocolate and I will tell you of my funniest stories about Caspar."
Sarina glanced at Caspar, who in turn shrugged, and they both entered the Caravan after Mary.
