Mel was about to swing his sword again when he abruptly stopped.
The black sword halted, David almost peed his pants when the sword was pointed at his face. He could see the air shifting around the sword. It was vibrating at a high frequency!
[Ding! Random Mission Initiated]
[Random Mission: Subjugate the Sin Ability User
-The system detected an unusual power coursing to the person's body, that the system deemed to be a sin ability. Subjugate the person to acquire a powerful ally.]
The system prompt made him froze.
'There's no rewar- cough, I mean, person? This guy?' Mel looked at the zombie, its bald head, grey skin, and white eyes didn't make him any less human. But the system just replied: [The host, no need to doubt the all-powerful system] in its somehow annoying robotic voice.
Mel rolled his eyes and turned to look at the zombie.
"Make them stop or I'll kill you" Mel threatened the zombie under him.
In the distance, the two zombies were sprinting, their faces were pinched in anger. They immediately reacted when Mel appeared, striking their leader.
David peered at the two, and they stopped. Mel could feel their unwillingness.
"Now let's have a proper conversation," Mel said as he smiled. He was still on top of the zombie, as the zombie bled from its seven orifices and severed arm.
. . . . . . . .
A few minutes later, David was stunned.
'You call this a proper conversation?!'
Tightly tied by a rope from top to bottom, only his mouth and eyes were visible. The two zombies were also tied by a rope that would compress and produce electricity in an attempt to struggle.
David looked at the man—who was muttering on his own—weirdly. The man in motorcycle gear injected a large syringe at him, which he thought was poison, but his arms later grew back and his internal injuries were healed.
'Don't tell me that, he...' David suddenly had a terrifying thought.
'He isn't a pervert right?' David's heart shrank.
'No, I'm a married person, well I got divorced, but I'm a straight male. Straighter than any straight object in the world!'
David was panicking when he heard a cold voice. David almost jumped out of his skin.
"Are you a human?" Mel asked in a doubtful tone.
'No! I'm not a human, I'm a rotten zombie, and haven't bathed for days! I wouldn't suit your taste!' David shouted anxiously, he got more anxious when he heard his voice shriek, he can't speak! The man wouldn't be able to understand him.
"What are you talking about? Are you crazy?" Mel was confused by his words.
'Wha- you can understand me?' David was shocked by the revelation.
"Well I just did," Mel pointed at his temple. Indicating it was his armor that did the job. He bought another attachment that could translate any language in the universe.
'How much ability do you have anyway? You can summon weapons out of nowhere and then you can communicate with me' David was in awe by the man's capabilities. He mistook it as his ability and not the armor. The current technology wasn't that advance after all.
"Cut to the chase, just answer my question," Mel asked coldly, he became annoyed from his blabbering.
He had always disliked when someone talked nonsense to him for a long duration. It was just consuming his time. He still hasn't eaten after all so Mel became quite irritated.
'Wh-what do mean?' David was slightly frightened by the man's tone.
"You. Human?" Mel suppressed his impulse to cut the zombie apart.
'Do you think this appearance of mine can be called human?'
Mel frown when he heard that. The system wouldn't lie to him.
"Tell me what happened"
Mel dragged the mummified David towards his shelter. The two zombies also followed silently. David's words were like the words of God to them. They were programmed to listen at his every command.
[Ding! Random Mission: Zombie Horde Completed. +10,000 OP]
On the way, Mel received his reward from the mission. He had also asked several questions to the zombie-like man.
. . . . . . .
"So you're saying that when you woke up you already became a zombie? and that the zombie just voluntarily followed you?" Mel relaxed on his couch he had moved from the ruined house.
He slowly peeled the mutated chicken egg he had boiled earlier. Although most of the eggs were destroyed, he still managed to scavenge five eggs, two were eaten last night.
From what he had learned. David was in Dipolog City, the neighboring city of Wolf City when the world ended. According to him, that place was wreaked havoc by a behemoth ape that had claimed the city as its nest.
This was also the reason why David had only amassed a little more than ten thousand zombies. Hundreds of Thousands of zombies were hunted by its gang of monkeys.
Mel also found out that mutated beast and zombies could evolve by devouring energy cores. Mel thought of trying it himself, although he could fight grade 3 opponents even grade 4, his body was just that of a mortal.
Mel summoned the system panel as he took out a blue stone when he suddenly heard the system's cold remark.
[I never thought the host wished to be a human firework]
Mel's mouth twitched: 'What do you mean by that?'
[The human body are built differently and would explode upon consumption of Energy Stones]
When he heard the word "explode", Mel threw the core out of shock. He visualized his body exploding like the cluster grenade and shuddered.
He then regretted it a second later. Mel summoned Beep and ordered the oblivious robot to fetch the energy core.
'Whoa! What's that? It's so cute' David has grown accustomed to talking to Mel. They had a 'proper conversation' for an hour after all.
Mel looked at David and shook his head. 'This guy is hopeless'
It seemed that the zombie man was completely clueless about his ability. It only knew how to control zombies and nothing more.
'And here I thought you were intelligent' Mel shook his head again as he chewed the boiled egg. It tasted just like meat, its fragrance alone could leave him full.
'Hey why are looking like I am an idiot?!' David shouted angrily when he noticed Mel's sympathetic look. He was still on the floor, bound by a rope. Yet the bastard has the nerve to mock him.
"Aren't you?"
'You!'
"Well anyway, one last question" Mel ignored his protest.
David tilted his head and confusion. He had already told him everything he knew, including how the world abandoned him.
"Would you rather live or die?" Mel slowly said with a menacing tone of voice.
That's right he was still held captive by the man in front of him. He controls his fate. Whether he lives or dies, is decided by the man.
