Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Sleep

I yawned, attempting to fight sleep.

"Tired?"She asked, running her fingers through my greasy hair.

I nodded, even more, tempted to give in to the lull of sleep.

She giggled, "Your hair is so soft."

I yawned again, "It's greasy."

She clicked her tongue at me in a scornful way, "You shouldn't be so cruel to yourself."

I shrugged half asleep, "I'm honest."

She began singing, lulling me to sleep completely.

I was now in some kind of castle, or mansion resembling one. I wasn't sure which, but regardless it was nice. I looked around the room before wandering the hallway. The rug was crimson with white spots, making me wonder if it was originally white. The lighting was dim, giving shadows to the rooms. The shadows gave illusions of silhouettes standing in the doorways. Yet, no one was there. The sound of someone singing caught my attention. The voice was beautiful but sounded far away. I began following it, well attempting to. The closer I became, the farther it seemed. I heard my name being called as the singing became softer. My heart stopped for a moment before beating quickly. I looked through the rooms as my pulse raced. My mind began to race with questions. I spotted a silhouette in one of the rooms. It was facing the hallway, looking straight at me.

"Come."

My body blindly obeyed as I panicked. I didn't even know who it was! I stopped walking as I neared the silhouette. It was perched on the window, looking into my soul with its crimson eyes.

"Oh," I sighed in relief, "It's just a crow."

I began to walk out of the room as it spoke my name. I looked behind me confusedly, now facing the crow.

"Did you just-"

"There's something you need to know."

I stared, confused.

"You-"

I groaned tiredly as she shook my shoulders, calling my name. I opened my eyes, squinting until my eyes adjusted to the light.

"Are you alright?"She asked, looking at me concernedly.

"Y-Yeah, I just had a weird dream."

She giggled, "I do wonder what goes through your head."

I felt my face heat up as I realized the position I was in. I attempted to remove my head from her lap, but she stopped me.

She looked at me happily, "No, stay here. I'm comfortable."

I stared at her for few moments before nodding, laying my head back on her lap. She began talking as I listened, occasionally commenting. She switched topics often, which amused me. Suddenly, she became serious.

"Do you love me?"

I blushed, shocked, "W-what?"

She looked at me seriously, giving me a cold look. I felt paralyzed. When I opened my mouth to speak, nothing came out, only silence. Her gaze became colder, yet heated at the same time. She looked angered by my failed attempts to respond.

"Do you?"

She leaned closer to me, grinning madly, "Well, if you don't love me, I'll just have to make you."

I stared at her, shocked by her sudden change in demeanor. She leaned forward, closing the space between us. I was frozen in shock, further provoking her anger. She held me down, kissing me more aggressively as she reached for my throat.

"Wake up," She called softly.

I looked around as she looked at me worriedly.

"Bad dream?"

I sighed in relief, nodding, "Y-yeah."

She giggled, "You must really have a dark mind."

"I must, "I replied thoughtfully.

She giggled again, "You-"

She was gone. I looked down at her cold, unmoving body for the second time. I didn't want to move. I wanted to stay here, with her. I held her beating heart gently, never wanting to let go. I couldn't say goodbye, not now, not ever. I couldn't let go of her, I refused. So I stayed with her, no matter what.
