" WHAT?!! that's impossible", the Deputy Chief stood from his seat while screaming with a thunderous voice forgetting all his ethics and manners.
The Deputy Chief was shocked by what his daughter said. He fully knew the extent of her new abilities and power, she was a level 7 and the second strongest person in the base right now, but she just declared that this unknown young man was much stronger than her or maybe even stronger than the other person that was making things difficult for him the last 2 days.
" How do you know that, Natalia?"
" I saw him in action Deputy Chief, I'm pretty sure that he is the strongest person I ever faced so far after that dark day", Natalia said while giving Davis a side look.
Davis kept smiling inflated with the prize, his gaze never left the Deputy Chief who didn't take long to regain his professional behavior, he sat neatly on his chair and started at Davis with a friendly look.
"So Mr.-"
"Just call me Davis"
"Nice to meet you, Davis, you can call me Vector. It's an honor to have a powerful individual at my base, we really would appreciate it if you would stay with us, the base is really in need of someone like you to survive in the middle of this unpredictable world" Deputy Chief Vector said with an amicable face.
" Don't worry Chief Vector, I would like to join your base since I can't live alone even if I have the power to do so. But first, I need to help some of my relatives and friends that are still alive in the city, so I need to leave the base temporary to achieve that, but I promise when I gather them all, I'll bring them back since being with a base ruled fairly by the police doesn't seem a bad idea", Davis said before he continued his talk with a more serious tone.
" And here came the favor that I asked from you Chief, I need your help since I need to reach the side of the principal road, and don't tell me that you don't have a way because I already know that You have what I'm asking for", the atmosphere in the room seemed to have become more intense as the friendly faces were gone, now the two of them are eyeing each other with more serious faces.
"Young man, if you know something just spell it, I don't like it when people start to act all mysterious and keep beating around the bush", Vector said while his voice turned cold all of a sudden.
It seems like what Natalia said was true, her father was easily angered by Davis, even if the latter didn't say something to offend him.
Davis took a deep breath, his hand was playing with something on the desk, " I know about the underground tunnel that relates this police department and the military base on the outskirts of the other half of the city".
Natalia suddenly raised her head that was lowered all this time, her expression was that of shock, while the Deputy Chief had his eyes fixed on Davis, it looked like he wanted to see what was on his mind.
The Deputy Chief broke the long silence while he sighed his daughter. "We indeed have that tunnel, but would you mind telling me how did you know such confidential information?"
Davis narrowed his feeling that something bad may happen if he didn't clarify fast, so he chuckled before saying, "Chief Vector, please don't make something you may regret later, I'm here just to ask for a favor, the information I just told you was something I got from a friend of mine a long time ago, you don't need to worry as I can assure you that I never told anyone about this, and I would appreciate it if you help as soon as possible, since my friends may be in danger while we are talking right now".
Deputy Chief Vector took a deep breath and relaxed a bit, remembering what his daughter just told him about Davis made him a bit afraid of offending such a powerful man, that may be a helpful ally in the future.
He glanced at Natalia, only to be greeted by her shaking her head as if telling him to not make any rash actions.
Deputy Chief Vector massaged his forehead and made a cunning smile, "So if I told you that I could let you use the tunnel, I would be owing you one right?"
Seeing the cunning smile from this Deputy Chief made Davis a bit on guard, but remembering that Elina and the others were in danger all the time, he made mind as he raised his hand for a handshake, "Sure, you would owe me one after you show me the tunnel, Chief".
Deputy Chief Vector made a loud laugh as if he just won the lottery before he shook his hand with Davis', making the latter frown a bit, he felt like he got in a trap or something.
Davis turned his face toward Natalia, but she just turned her head away as if she was afraid to make eye contact with him.
" Sir Davis, do you intend to use the tunnel right now? Or maybe you want to rest for the night to assign you unused attribute points!" Natalia finally talked without waiting for someone to ask her to.
When David heard her, he frowned before asking the System mentally, 'What is she talking about? System'.

After Davis heard the answer, a vein almost pop out of his forehead as yelled inside his mind ' Why the hell didn't you tell me early System?'He was angered that the system didn't tell him such important information early on.

Davis almost cursed aloud, but he was able to not, since that would be embarrassing.
He looked toward Natalia and her Father and told them that he needed to use the tunnel right now. Although he was excited to see in which attribute his unused points would be added, that would be meaningless if he woke up to find out that one of his friends was dead.
Deputy Chief led them to the underground floor using the stairs since the elevators are no more working, the tunnel was underground since it was a secret path, so while they were descending the strain, they kept discussing the Apocalypse and how they could survive in the future.
" Say Chief Vector, since the cars and vehicles are useless now, how could you guys place them neatly with the rocks and cement sacks making such a tough wall," Davis asked remembering the barricade that was the base safe belt.
" Ah that, well, on the first day of the Apocalypse, we couldn't make such a wall, but after uniting the citizen and killing the Zombies the whole day, people started to become stronger, the second day was the turning-point since all the people who killed the Zombies become more powerful to the extent of being supernatural, ability users were the most eye-catching with their supernatural abilities, well the rest of us got a huge boost in all our attribute making us able to even push the cars and the trucks to make the barricade you just saw", Chief Vector said in prideful tone while pushing his chest out.
"Hoh, so that's how it is, that was some inspiring thing to hear", Davis now saw the Chief in a new light, to be able to do all this in a short time wasn't an easy feat.
" Could you tell us how you became this strong in such a short time Sir Davis?" Natalia's voice was heard from the side.
Davis turned her way and kept staring at her with a smug smile," Miss Commander, I believe that asking about one's secrets is a bit rude, don't you think?"
Natalia frowned upon seeing his smile before she added, " you can just call me Natalia since you are not a policeman, you don't need to use formalities"
"Then you don't need to keep calling me 'Sir' too, and I was just joking with you, there is no secret, I became stronger the same way you did, by killing", Davis said with a light smile.
"That means that you killed more Zombies than I did, if I could remember that I killed hundreds of Zombies, maybe I even reached a thousand kill and I even killed some random roaming beasts", Natalia smiled for the first time, it seems like she was enjoying the talk when it was about strength.
"Well, Miss Natalia must have seen the difference between killing an undead or a Zombie as you call it and a beast, tell me what did you figure out?"
Natalia frowned her beautiful eyebrows while recalling what the notifications had told her.
"If I remember correctly, killing a level 1 Zombie gave 50 UC and 50 exp, on the other hand killing a level 1 beast gave 100 UC and 100 expo plus some random items," Natalia said and a sudden realization came to her mind "You mean you have killed more beasts than Zombies! But beasts are fewer compared to the Zombies, it doesn't make sense".
Davis nodded his head in agreement before he answered her with a devilish smile " yes, the beasts are indeed fewer in the city compared to undead, but what about outside of the city? Remember that I told you that I came from the outskirts of the city, well I lied, due to an unfortunate accident I was out of the city the moment the Apocalypse started, the beast I killed to reach here are counted on the hundreds and almost all of them were above level 3", It was Davis turn now to feel proud of himself.
Natalia and Deputy Chief Vector were staring at him with full astonishment and respect, they knew that fighting like a beast at level 3 was very hard for them, but the young man just told them that the beasts he killed were all above level 3 and he killed hundreds of them.
'Just how much strength and power he has now, should I ask him about his current level?' Natalia thought in her mind, but when she was just about to ask him, they reached the underground level where the gate of the tunnel was built.
The underground was not lighted like the floors above, but due to Davis's attributes, he wasn't affected as he could see clearly in this dark environment.
The underground level was full of big wooden boxes, metal boxes, and some military vehicles.
"The underground level is where we stock the food and the devices that we used to work with, but now they are useless," Deputy Chief Vector said while playing with his mustache "I don't know who told you about the tunnel, but this information is pretty secret, this tunnel that leads to the mini military base on the other side of the city is just a part of the information, the tunnel is an entire underground base inside the Green mountain since you are going to use this tunnel there no harm in telling you the full truth".
Davis was shocked, an underground base inside the mountain, this was big news to him since he can use this to his advantage, an underground base was the best base to use in this Apocalypse.
'Wait! If I thought like this, why wouldn't they?' Davis turned his face toward the duo with a smile that wasn't a smile, " Chief Vector, Miss Natalia just tell me what's wrong with this tunnel already, no need to hide things, I won't be angry, don't worry''.
Even though he said he wouldn't be angry, the vein that was threatening to explode in his forehead made the two feel a shiver run through their whole body.
