"Don't just stand there. Come in." His voice was smooth, lazy and clearly relaxed.
They stumbled over themselves to bow and pay respects to Kieran, not even taking note of the audience they had in the form of Raven, Raphael, Dimitri, Leonard and Clarissa.
"Your majesty,"
"Long live the king."
"Your majesty, may you live long."
It was all noise to Kieran. They hadn't changed a bit. They were still the same corrupt men and women whose hunger for power made them trample upon those who were beneath them and they had taken the years in which he had retreated to find a cure to do just that.
But all that would end today.
"Quiet." The words were spoken in a chilling tone that carried command without being loud.
There was instant silence but the silence was heavy and tense. Everyone kept waiting for the worst to happen.
