Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Watching her father walk out from the main hall, a look of disappointment as well as fear appeared on Rosalyne's face.

Even for a princess like her who wasn't deeply involved in political matters, how could she not know about the title of 'Blood Prince' and the person whom it referred to?

This title belonged solely to the third son of the Emperor of Narth, a cruel and terrifying monster who had already dyed the seas red with blood.

He is only 26 years old, and yet, the people that he is rumored to have killed number in the hundreds of thousands.

People say that he is a person who can kill without batting an eye... a monster that has no emotions and simply lives off of blood and war.

No matter what, even if the rumors were exaggerated in the end, they must have at least some resemblance to the truth.

Even Rosalyne's own eldest brother thought that the Blood Prince was a monster that was to be feared, and yet... this same eldest brother of hers told her to do her best and get married to that person, whether that was as a wife or a concubine!

Without even turning around to look at her brothers who had already stood up from their seats as Gray Amberton walked out from the hall, Rosalyne clenched her fists before she walked out as well.

As she stepped out from the main hall, she saw the 2 guards who were kneeling on one knee and watched as the king walked off, while Elsa had fallen on both of her knees with a fearful as well as reverent expression on her face.

After all, unless it was a public event, in front of the king's presence, a maidservant had to kneel down on both knees until the king left the area.

With a resolute expression on her face, Rosalyne looked at the kneeling Elsa, before she lightly bent down and patted her shoulder gently indicating for her to stand up.

Elsa immediately raised her head when she felt someone patting her shoulder, but the moment that she saw Rosalyne's face, she hurriedly buried her head to her bosom.

She had already heard the rumors from the other servants already, and yet as Rosalyne's maidservant, she was the one who had to call her to the palace's main hall.

At the same time, since it was part of the king's orders, Elsa wasn't allowed to say a word about what she had heard regarding this matter either.

After all, the king clearly intended to keep this matter a secret, not just from Rosalyne, but from everyone else who wasn't living inside the palace.

The latest that their enemies learned of this, the better it would be.

Of course, since the king had issued his orders, even as a personal maidservant of the princess, Elsa didn't dare to defy them.

This was the fear that a maidservant naturally had towards the king.

This was why she lied earlier and said that she didn't have any idea why the king had called Rosalyne to the main hall even though she had already heard the rumors that were circulating inside the palace.

Looking at the guilty expression on Elsa's face Rosalyne didn't admonish her, and instead she simply said in a calm voice that tried to hide her agitated emotions

''Let's go.''

''Ah?!'' A puzzled look appeared in Elsa's eyes as she stood up and exclaimed loudly without thinking.

However, Rosalyne didn't explain anything else, as she walked deeper inside the palace while different thoughts were flashing through her mind at the same time.

She knew that she only had a few hours left until she left for the Empire of Narth and that this wasn't something she could go against regardless of whether she agreed to go or not.

With Elsa following behind Rosalyne, the 2 of them continued walking for nearly 15 minutes, until they arrived at the depths of the palace, in front of a large wooden door.

Two maidservants with clothes similar to Elsa's -with plain white robes that had the royal insignia of Lucceia engraved on them- were standing on both sides of the door, almost as if they were guarding it, preventing anyone from entering inside.

However, the moment that they saw Rosalyne, the 2 women both bowed at the same time, before they pushed open the large wooden door behind them without asking any questions.

As the large door slowly opened, Rosalyne and Elsa saw a beautiful middle-aged woman with pale blond hair sitting on a wooden chair inside a spacious room, with a serious look on her face.

At that moment, the beautiful woman slowly raised her head and looked at the door that had just opened, before her gaze met Rosalyne's.

''Mother...''

Rosalyne mumbled in a low voice before she stepped forward and entered her mother's chambers.

Looking at the beautiful woman who was staring at her with a kind and yet pained gaze in her eyes, Rosalyne felt a myriad of emotions flashing through her mind.

She immediately understood that her mother had most likely already heard about the king's decision to send her to the Empire of Narth, but there was nothing she could do either.

Of course, if the servants had already heard about this, then how could her mother not know about this matter already?

Silence filled the spacious room as the 2 maidservants closed the door, leaving Rosalyne and her mother by themselves inside the room

...

Fifteen minutes later, Rosalyne pushed the large wooden door open, as she left her mother's chambers.

However, the moment that she opened the door, she saw a young man in green-colored, luxurious military robes waiting outside the room, while his lips slowly curved up into a smile.
