Clancy gasped in surprise at his brazen outburst. She had never seen him so frantic. He was almost manic. It scared her. Would he want to harm Beatrice since she was carrying the demon's child?
Clancy still didn't believe the stranger was a real demon. He was just a handsome troublemaker. She knew how to deal with handsome troublemakers. Clancy saw no outward reaction from Beatrice when Procter suggested the unthinkable.
Beatrice spoke, "I can not do that, Procter. You as well as I know that. If I killed an innocent child, I would be no better than the demon. You and I have seen things that were not for human eyes. We must now hold the line. Lilith's prophecy can only come true if there is truth to it. I see none. Thank you, for traveling all this way to give me this message." She thanked him, and then she stood up. "I must retire. Please, stay as long as you like."
