Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

When I woke up from what seemed like a bizarre dream, my vision was comepletely covered in a black cloth, I attempted to move my hands but the only thing I heard were of chains rustling.

Slowly panicking, I frantically pull on the chains on my hands and leg. I couldn't see anything at all, although I could feel a blindfold being tied tightly around my head.

I regulated my breathing and tried to remember what happened in that bizarre dream. When the person named Ethan exploded the ceiling to hold the guards back, the bricks fell on me and I was trapped under it with no chance of escaping, only to be caught by the remaining guards.

"Awake?" a familiar voice said. It was my..researcher, Dion.

Instinctively, I moved my head up even if I was blindfolded and couldn't see anything. My hands were trembling, the effort to regulate my breathing all came to waste when I heard his voice.

"Oh Zephyr, Zephyr. I thought you were the most obedient pet I could've ever had." the disappointment apparent in that person's voice made Zephyr feel guilty to the core. "Your betrayal made me lose all my trust in you. When I heard that my subject 23 was escaping I couldn't even believe my own ears."

"I'm sorry.. I.." I couldn't find words to even finish my sentence.

"It's alright Zephyr. Everything will be forgiven as long as you stay close with me and tell me the people who attempted to take you away from me." the person said, taking off my blindfold and looking straight at me with his kind grey eyes.

I gulped and looked down but felt my hair being grabbed roughly. I was forced to look up and make eye contact with my researcher, he was looking at me with his kind eyes that pressured me to tell the truth.

"I-i" I felt like there was a lump in my throat. I didn't want this to happen, only if I had just obediently stayed in my room.

"Oh dear.." he said, wiping my tears. "It's alright,Zephyr. Just tell me."

"No..no.." I murmured, a thousand thoughts flickering in my mind.

Those people wanted to help me,didn't they? I can't just tell on them, they saved one of the lab rats didn't they? If I told on them would he be dragged back here and bear more hatred for me? I can't do that, I can't handle that. I don't wanna be hated.. I just.. want to help.

"Tell me. You won't lie to me right?" Dion pressured even more, kneeling onto one of his knees and wiping my teary wet face.

"One of them..had a blinding power. I couldn't see anything the time..I was there.." I lied. My guilt took over me, I wanted to break down more than I already had. I hated myself for lying to Dion, he trusted me so much but I'm lying to him.

"That's good information indeed. It's alright, now I know one of the terrorist group member's power." Dion said happily with a smile on his face while fidgeting around his pocket to find keys.

Dion started unlocking the chains on my legs and to my hands. However, he soon used a handcuff to chain my hands together. "There we go.." he said with a bright smile.

"I need to follow our daily routine, I forgot to do the injections today as we had a busy day fixing up the laboratory and increasing our security. So cooperate alright, Zephyr?" Dion asked, grabbing my shoulder and pushing me to walk side by side to him.

We walked down hallways that didn't seem to have any blemish on them, the cracks and holes caused by the attack earlier didn't even seem to affect the building much after the fixes. It was as if nothing had happened.

"Zephyr, we've reached." Dion said. Unlocking his research room door that I'm familiar with.

There were a pair of cryostasis chambers filled wit liquid nitrogen. A large drawer of test tubes of different sizes. Some vials filled with blood that had labels on them, most were of mine.

Shelves and shelves of books and files.

Dion quickly locked his door and rushed to his computer, typing at an insanely quick speed he always does. This was my cue to wait around for him, I could do anything I wanted as long as I was as quiet as a mice.

I picked up a black file with my name written in bold letters from his large shelves of files. It was all filled with my information, this file knew me better then I know.. about myself probably.

Subject 23

Name: Zephyr Orpheus

Age: 12

Birth date: 16 July 2030

Blood type: O+

Power: [Privately stored information. Only revealed to trusted individuals.]

Rank: [Privately stored Information.Only revealed to trusted individuals.]

History: Taken in by the government on the date, 16 July 2037. Reported as the 23 person to be a special case of mutates, found in a building infested with mutates. Under the care of researcher, Dion Levisay.

That was what was written on the first page if my file, most of the information was confidential unlike the other files. I've read the others but most or all of their information were written down. I never got to ask why most of my information were removed from my file.

The other pages of the files were just weekly journals of Dion's research. It was filled with elaborate words that I couldn't even..read. There were too may scientific words involved in his journal that I had never gotten far into his journal writing.

"Interesting right?" Dion asked, his attention was now towards me. His hands supporting his face while he fixed his glasses. "Sit down on that chair and I'll take your blood before injecting your daily doses." he instructed, grabbing a blank paper from beneath his desk.

"Don't move." Dion ordered in a kind tone while I sat down on my chair, even more nervous than usual. I still felt guilty even if I knew it was the 'right' thing to do.

A large needle was stabbed into my right arm, blood could be seen drawing at a quick pace. I looked away like I usually do..I don't do well with blood at all.

"Alright. Now your doses. Give me your left arm please." Dion requested holding up a tranquilliser filled with blue bubbling liquid.

I placed out my left arm and closed my eyes, waiting for the pain.

After my daily routine was done with Dion, he asked me to go back to my room and that there would be a guard outside accompanying me to my room.

I opened the door and closed it before I left. There were 2 guards waiting outside at the door for me, their eyes extremely focused on me. Every little movement of mine are immediately noticed within a spilt second, it was terrifying.

"Wait, Zephyr." Dion called out when I was leaving. "Come back." he ordered with a stern tone.

I quickly walked back, I could feel my body becoming heavier and my vision blurring but I still rushed back. Making Dion wait is always a bad option.

Without any warning, Dion grabbed me by my chin and opened my mouth and felt under my tongue. That's when I knew I forgot about the most important part. My tracker in my mouth.

"Those sly bastards.." Dion murmured angrily before dropping me to the floor and walking back to his room. "Keep him here." he said to the guards that stood there, confused by the situation.

He came back to the hallway with another microchip. "Keep this safe okay?" he asked behind a smile that seemed to have a sinister feeling behind it.

Before I knew it, my vision blacked out and my head hit the wall with a loud thud. I could feel my body being picked up and carried to another location before I lost my consciousness.
