"Shun? Hmm, not bad..." Arion said as he slowly nodded.
"Not bad? There is nothing wrong with that name," Shun grumbled.
Arion shrugged his shoulders and said with a smile, "Relax, I didn't say there was anything wrong."
Arion had no idea why, but he felt like he was getting carried by some childish feelings like wanting to get back at Shun for everything. He wondered if this was because he was in the body of a sixteen-year-old kid.
Although his personality in his previous life was laid back, he doesn't remember trying to get even with kids after being a grown-up.
Shun snorted and asked, "Hmph, what is your name then? Must be a world-shattering name."
Arion proudly raised his nose in the air and said, "Arion. Arion Elsar." If there was one thing Arion was glad about in this life, it was his name.
'Sister Mei surely is good at naming,' Arion thought.
"What a coincidence. You have the name of my dog. Could you possibly be its relative?" Shun asked in a thoughtful tone.
Arion clenched his fists, feeling like bashing Shun's ridiculously handsome face.
He then took a deep breath and said in a calm tone, "I don't have the energy to waste with kids like you nor stoop to your level."
Hearing Arion calling him a 'kid' again and again ticked off a certain spot in his heart, "Hey, you—" Shun swallowed his words upon noticing that someone was coming to the room.
Arion was surprised why this big-mouthed kid suddenly sealed his lips.
"What's going on here?" Mei's beautiful voice sounded behind Arion's ears, and he turned around with an ecstatic expression.
"Sister Mei, this guy woke up," Arion said as he pointed towards Shun.
Shun was surprised to see an awe-inspiring beauty and felt that she looked somewhat familiar for some reason.
"Oh, are you feeling okay?" Mei asked Shun.
Shun nodded, "Yes, but I still feel soreness and fatigue all over my body."
"That's natural. You were in a very injured state. If you were not a strong Defier, you would have died by falling from such a height. Thinking about that, how did you end up falling from the sky, and where did you come from?" Mei asked in simple curiosity.
Shun scratched his temple as he said, "To be honest, I don't know, and my memories seem like a blur. All I remember is getting chased by some people, and the next thing I know, I am already lying on a mattress in an unfamiliar place. You have my thanks for saving me."
'Hmph, why is this kid now acting so polite to her? Must be a simp,' Arion snorted inwardly.
However, Arion had no idea that Shun was sincerely thanking her since he knew he would have been a goner if not for getting saved at the right time.
Mei smiled, "There is no need for that. You should thank Arion. Only because of him was I able to save you. Otherwise, the river would have carried away your body. He crawled on the ground and dragged your body away from the river."
Arion felt flattered hearing Mei's words as it made him seem like a saint who couldn't bear to watch any living beings suffer.
Shun looked at Arion with a surprised look as he never thought that Arion was the type to save a stranger by going to such lengths. He could only imagine the trouble it took for a disabled person like Arion to drag him out from the river.
Even though he didn't want to say thanks to him again, he seemed like he felt bad for not properly appreciating what he did, and so, he said in a sincere tone, "Thank you, Arion."
Arion was a bit taken aback as he didn't expect someone like Shun to switch his colors and thank him so sincerely quickly.
Arion coughed and said, "You are welcome."
"But do you really not remember where you are coming from?" Mei asked with a thoughtful expression.
Shun shook his head and said, "Sadly, no. I wish I could see so that I could find my way back home. Is there a way out of this island?"
Arion narrowed his eyes, "Why do you want to get out of this island? How do you know that your home isn't on this island if you don't remember anything?"
Shun said with an unfocused gaze, "Ah, that's because my home could not be on this island as well, right? I just wanted to know if there was a way just in case it turned out that my home isn't on this island."
Mei chimed in, "It's highly impossible for you to come from another island since you suddenly fell from the sky. I think only when you remember how you ended up falling from the sky will we be able to find out where you are really coming from or for you to recover all your memories. Maybe once your body completely heals, those memories might come back. Till then, you may rest here since you don't have anywhere to go."
Shun had a happy expression, "Really? Thank you, Miss Mei!"
"Hey! Sister Mei, is it really necessary for him to stay here? Won't it be troublesome for this poor guy? I mean, he would recover his memories faster if he were to wander alone outside instead of cozying up here, right?" Arion asked since he didn't want Shun to hole up in this house and irk him.
Mei let out a soft laugh seeing through Arion, and said, "He is in an injured state. If he goes out, his condition would only worsen. And besides, I heard how you two seemed to get familiar with each other. I believe you two would make good friends, right?"
She then looked at Shun, "Arion never had a close friend before. So, I hope you can be good to him and don't bully him, okay?" She said with a pose of a big sister looking out for her little brother.
Shun said with a polite smile as he looked at Arion, "Of course, Miss Mei. I will look after Arion as if he was my brother."
Arion saw Shun's eyes flashing with certain light and said, "Hmph, I can take care of myself. Don't look down on me just because I am disabled. Soon, things won't be the same," His tone sounded confident since he knew that he finally was able to connect with Prana.
So, it would only be a matter of time before he walks the path of a Defier and becomes one finally!
Shun inwardly rolled his eyes, but on the outward, he gave an encouraging smile while Mei seemed a little surprised that Arion seemed to sound really confident.
"Okay, Shun, right? You can rest here and call any of us if you need anything. Come Arion, let's leave Shun to rest," Mei said as she went outside the room.
Arion made an 'I am watching you' gesture at Shun by making a V-sign with two of his fingers over his eyes. Shun only stuck out his tongue in reply before Arion left the room.
