Elsa's Pov
It was the second week of school and I already made some new friends. However, five days had also passed since the incident, yet I still couldn't give Liv an answer to the competition. All those songs I have composed? I'm not ready to let anyone listen yet. I was repeating the same question to myself all over and over again: how did I do that?
As I recalled back the day my friends found about my newfound ability in singing, I had the unpleasant flashback of the incident in the cafeteria. Thinking of it made me want to burst into tears again. Many would have forgotten about it by now, with new gossips told in the school almost every day. But I, however, could not change even the slightest detail away from my mind, just like having the feeling like it was yesterday. I remember the face of relief, with a hint of shock, from Michael when Blake became an obedient dog. The questionable mummers from the crowd. The feeling of my powers taking control of everything. The feeling of restriction of my own actions. My own powers.
It was now twilight and I was occupied with my studies until I got a text message from Liv.
Convo in text between Liv (L) and Elsa (E)
L: Hi E. Lemme tell u how surprised I m when I found out u can sing. AND compose songs!!!
E: Thx love.
L: r u ok? U usually don't sent short message.
E: I m fine.
L: still thinkin' about the fight?
I stared at the screen. I have nothing to tell her. Then another message appeared.
L: u know u can't keep it forever. The others would know that sooner or later
E: I know
L: when r u gonna keep it until?
E: as long as I could
Then Liv stopped texting. Instead, a phone call from Jenny, one of my new friends in my grade.
"Hi, Elsa. What's up? Are you free later?" Jenny didn't sound as cheery as she has always been at the other end.
"Why?"
"I'm not feeling well today plus I *cough cough* I need to babysit someone today. I was wondering maybe you could replace me for babysitting? Everyone I've called before you are busy... and I really have no one who could help me. Please say yes!"
But I have practice later, I couldn't miss that. Still, Jenny's my friend.
"Um... Jenny. I might have time later. I'll go. Just send me the address."
I could hear Jenny smiling on the phone.
"Thank you, Elsa! You can keep 3/4 of the babysitting money. You're the best!"
And that she hung up the phone. A few minutes later she texted me the address and the details. Looks like I'm babysitting today, and only one little girl to take care of. How hard can that be? After dressing up, I grabbed my book and headed to the given address.
I awed at the marvellous two-storey house that stood in front of me as I pressed the door bell. Out came a women who look rather familiar to me.
The women glared at me and without a doubt, exclaimed, "Why hello dear! What are you doing here at this hour?"
Confused as ever, I had to ask, "I'm sorry but, have we met?"
She recalled, "Yes! At the marketplace. You helped me up when those nasty boys knocked me over, remember?"
I remember. Mrs Parker.
"What are you doing here? Is there anything I could help?" She offered.
"Actually, yes. My friend Jenny was suppose to babysit your daughter tonight but she's not feeling well. So, she sent me instead."
She gestured, "Well then, come in! Petrina! Your babysitter's here!" Mrs Parker hollered.
