Chereads / The Thirteenth Dantian / Chapter 5 - Legendary Breathing Technique

Chapter 5 - Legendary Breathing Technique

[Legendary Breathing Technique: This is a assimilation technique of the highest grade, Legendary! By activating this technique, it allows the user to assimilate law particles just by breathing. It is a passive assimilation technique that requires no energy to keep active.]

Carter read over the description of the Technique once more. ' If the description is correct, I will be able to gain strength by simply having the Technique active at all times.'

Carter gave one last deep breath before opening his mouth to give the command to Gandalf.

[Gandalf, Activate Legendary Breathing Technique]

Carter immediately began feeling his body change. His breathing got heavier and his skin started to glow. He felt like he could run a mile without breaking a sweat.

Carter was so addicted by the feeling that he decided to sit right where he stood and relish the feeling. Little did he know that he sat in the same place for five days straight.

'Ahhh'

Carter stretched his arms and got up from his sitting position

"Now let's see…"

Carter mentally summoned his status screen and started reading.

Name: Carter Orvin

Age: 7

Talent: Legendary

Bloodline: Unknown

Realm: Warrior

Grade: Earth

Level: 2

Dantians(1): Neutral(11)

Particles: Neutral(21,341/25,000)

Contracted Beast(s): None

Innate Abilities: Legendary Breathing Technique, Primordial Eyes, Mythical Summoner Technique, Personal Domain

Carter scanned over the information briefly and jittered in excitement. Seems like he had quite the technique. Who knows how far he will go with this technique.

Another one of the lines intrigued Carter greatly. The ' Contracted Beast(s)' column read as blank for now. Carter remembered he was able to use his Mythical Summoner Technique once as he had one core. He pulled up the description of the technique and read:

[Mythical Summoner Technique(1 available Summon): This technique is of the Mythical grade. It has the ability to summon beasts of Mythical talents or better. Can summon one beast for every Dantian the owner has. Once the user summons a beast and it contracts to a Dantian, your stuck with that beast for life.]

[Would you like to activate the technique?]

Gandalf commented as Carter was finishing reading. Carter hesitated for a moment before giving his response.

"Yes"

Suddenly, Carter felt a surge of incorporeal heat radiate from his body. He did not know the exact magnitude of temperature but he was sure that given he was not the source of the heat, he would be cooked alive. Some time later, there was a snap in space. Directly in front of Carter, a infinitesimally small crack in space slowly expanded to a circular gap in space the size of a small Sedan.

Carter gaped at the phenomenon for a couple seconds before a sudden change repossessed his attention. A purple tipped vine slowly inched out of the black whole. Not even a second later there was a second and third vine that appeared from the black abyss.

Carter's eyes widened as this was not the end of it. hundreds of individual vines seeped out of the gate like slow molasses. Once all added together, there were roughly 2000 vines curled up in a ball writhing and slithering like one great, long, tangled snake. Carter did not know what was in the center of the monstrosity but was hesitant to find out by hand.

" Gandalf! What is that thing?!"

[You have just summoned a slightly mature Nightmare Seed of the Mythic rank. Nightmare seeds are one of the most coveted summons as it is the plant type beast with the most versatility in how it matures. The Nightmare Seed grows mostly through its diet. Their diet and appetite knows no bounds making it perfect for personalizing it's development to match your needs and attribute. ]

" Interesting, so it's a plant type summon that i can shape into whatever fits my need. Well, my need right now is food shelter and water."

I checked my status again and found something new right next to the "Contracted Beasts" text;

Contracted Beasts: Nightmare Seed(Mythic)

Carter clicked on the name to see a new screen scripted with information about my Nightmare Seed.

Name: Nightmare Seed

Contractor: Carter Orvin

Age: 3 days

Talent: Mythic

Bloodline: Unknown

Realm: Warrior

Rank: Earth

Level: 7

Core(Lv. 7): Fire(72%) - Metal(28%)

Carter read over the information in fascination as he had never seen so many different aspects to a beast's progression.

' The fire and metal split on it's core could be from the previous environment it was living in and the food it was eating. The core is influenced by those factors in early stage of development.'

He could feel a mental connection with the plant however it was very dull and almost nonexistent; however through this connection Carter was able to glean the complex amalgamous network of signals being sent into and out of the plant. The location of the vast majority was unknown but a couple of the signals were sent directly through the thin string of both our ethereal mental condensation.

From those maybe five or six signals that were sent through, Carter was able to get a vague taste of the language of the Nightmare Seed.

For the moment there was mostly just a jumble of emotional confusion and hunger. Carter tried to send a signal back but found no luck. It was like trying to condense a thought. Thoughts don't condense, they just appear and disappear.

Carter tried another method that he thought might work.

" Yo! Do you understand English??" Carter said aloud at the tangle of vines monotonously.

It stood stationary with each squirming tentacle becoming more still the more the silence stretched on.

" If you can understand me, go and hug that tree right over there." Carter commanded while pointing a finger at a relatively small tree about 20 feet away.

The Seed that Carter decided to name 'Wig' actually started to move in the direction of the tree, albeit a little slow. Once in front of the tree, it leaned a portion of the surface of tentacles on the tree and slowly started to roll up the tree.

Carter stared in astonishment as only one thing could appear in his mind at the moment...

'The tip sticky.'
