Chapter 310 - The Horde

Soul jumped out of the pit, looking for the tree hugger he had dropped earlier. He had grabbed one from Noctar before the whole crater incident, so he wondered if it had been killed. He couldn't see it anywhere, a small smile appearing on his face. "It decided to join its mother in death. Honestly, that was the smart decision." Soul commented, turning around. He watched Aaron jump out of the soil, descending like a freight train. "Aaron, aren't you going to go back to, you know, not destroying everything when you jump?" Soul asked him.

"Well, we now have a reputation on this planet for destroying absolutely everything in our path, so we may as well fill the role, right?" Aaron asked him, clicking his fingers. Small balls of fire began to circle around him, causing him to smile. As he concentrated more, different elements began to form around his body, orbiting him as if he was a planet. Lightning, ice, water, fire, balls of light, void and orbs of wind. It was all created by this Elemental Storm ability. "Well, look at what we have here. A veritable barricade of elements to hit people with." Aaron noted, dispersing the new skill with a flick of his wrist. The elements went everywhere, but Aaron watched them pass through everyone harmlessly. It was like he controlled who was in danger from the elements.

"Well, what are we going to do now? We haven't collected the heads of any treehuggers, have we?" Coranth asked them. This caused Noctar to point his hand towards where he was killing treehuggers. "There are around fifty treehuggers that I killed just laying there. Three thousand Gil times fifty." Noctar told the child, causing his eyes to open in shock. "One hundred and fifty thousand...I never expected to ever have to say such a ridiculous number, but here we are." Coranth said aloud. This caused Aaron to cock his head to the side in confusion.

"Is that a lot of money?" Aaron asked as the elements that he had dispersed sped up, circling the group at speeds that made the colours blur together. "Honestly, I'm not sure. I have no decent figure to compare it with. After all, I don't know any nobles personally." Coranth responded, tapping his wrist. "However, it's more money than I've ever had at my disposal before, so that's a plus." Coranth reckoned before looking towards Soul, who had begun staring off into the distance with a strange interest. "Soul? What are you doing?" Coranth asked, having learned Soul's name after hearing Aaron say it. "Well, I don't know if this is a problem, but I hear dirt shifting underground. It's rapidly approaching us, so I suggest we away from here." Soul calmly stated, jumping up into the air. Noctar followed along with him, leaving Aaron and Soul on the ground. "I'm not jumping," Aaron told Coranth before pointing his finger up. "However, you are." Aaron continued, Coranth floating up until he reached ten metres in the air. "You just stay there," Aaron said to Coranth as Soul landed back on the ground, destroying the earth underneath him to reveal the treehuggers beneath them. They were climbing up to greet them from around twenty metres down the way.

Aaron jumped down into the hole, the treehuggers screeching in shock as he descended the tunnel, using his new skill, Absolute Carnage. Upon activation, he felt his natural reflexes improve from what they were, his vision turning red. He used Tsuyukagiri to slice the swarm as he went down, Soul following close behind him. Soul's pink Corruption turned a crimson colour, activating one of his newer skills, Rageful Incantation: Enraged Corruption. His height grew as he fell behind Aaron, horns spurting from his head. Due to this, he became six feet and nine inches tall. The pair descended, Aaron killing absolutely everything in his path as Soul followed behind him, trying to catch up with Aaron so he wouldn't be left behind. The pair landed at the bottom of the tunnel, the sounds of screeching echoing throughout a large cavern. Thousands upon thousands of treehuggers of all shapes and sizes let out their screams as Aaron made his presence known, followed closely by Soul. The pair, once they were both standing, smiled. They then began their attack on the base of monsters. Soul rushed in head-first, which was meant in the literal sense of the word. Soul impaled one of the larger treehuggers with the horns on the top of his head.

Aaron began slashing at the treehuggers, using Tsuyukagiri as his reflexes enhanced themselves while Aaron continued to use Absolute Carnage to decimate the horde, blood spilling to the floor like a pool was being filled to the brim. Aaron grinned as he did it, Soul beginning his full-fledged rampage through the treehuggers, a devilish smile spreading across his face like some unknown virus. Soul tore open a small treehugger, his face covered in its variably-coloured blood before using its split body to attack the other treehuggers, almost like a baseball bat made of their own flesh. Both Aaron's and Soul's bodies looked as if a rainbow had gotten sick all over them, but the smell of copper reigned supreme as Aaron and Soul continued their assault on the creatures that thought they could perform a sneak attack on Aaron and Soul. Soul used his makeshift weapon to brutally assault the treehuggers with their own kin, blood spraying everywhere as they destroyed the horde. It was a massacre, and those two were the cause of it.

Aaron then decided to use a new ability. That ability was Supernova Blitz. Aaron swung his sword, creating miniature supernovae as he went. Each supernova was only around a millimetre in radius, but the second it touched something, everything within fifty centimetres was destroyed. The bodies of the treehuggers were obliterated without a trace, leaving no blood behind. Aaron realised what was going on and then decided to not use Supernova Blitz here. It was no fun seeing no blood, after all.
