Chapter 289 - To The Celestial Plane, And Back To The Fray

For a brief moment, the trio felt nothing. Soul, Aaron and Soul could not see nor think nor smell. The three could not do anything. They were entirely powerless against the travel to the Celestial Plane, Takamagahara. However, after those uncounted seconds had passed, the three of them were able to open their eyes, the almost non-existent sounds of the Celestial Plane hitting their ears quietly.

"Finally, we're back here," Soul said, looking at his body with a curious expression. "However, shouldn't I be joined back up to you? After all, you're the original, so shouldn't we be slammed back into the same body?" Soul asked Aaron. He wasn't complaining, but he was certainly confused about why they weren't joined together.

"Honestly, I wouldn't question it, Soul. We'll probably confuse ourselves more if we try and understand what is going on." Aaron responded, noticing the distinct lack of air. After all, they were not on a planet that created oxygen. They were up in the sky, the Celestial Plane. "So, now that we're here, what do you think is going to happen next?" Aaron asked the pair, floating on the space behind him. He was just relaxing before the worst came of him.

"Well, considering what happened the last few times, you're going to be dragged away to some arena, along with me, and then you'll fight to your death for the amusement of the gods. You know, just your usual day-to-day activities, at least where we are concerned." Soul told him, causing Aaron to sigh before looking into the space above him. "I wonder who I'll have to fight this time." Aaron groaned. After all, they probably weren't going to put him against someone of an equal Boundless Percentage. They probably hadn't forgotten the recent thing where he barely managed to defeat a guy who was at 80% Boundlessness while he was only at 20%.

[Well, you just so happened to guess right, Aaron. You've been called to fight in the arena.] Memica said to him through his head, shocking him slightly. He could never get used to Memica just popping in and out as she pleased.

{Enter the Boundless Arena again?}

{Accept} {Accept but less enthusiastically}

"Wow. Such a fine array of options. Go to the arena, or go less happily." Aaron sighed, causing Soul to chuckle. "They really know how to mess with you, don't they? After all, if there was a decline button, we both know that you'd probably choose it. However, they won't let you, will they? After all, that'd defeat the reason of having a competition." Soul said to Aaron. "Well, I'll be watching you two from here. Have fun in your match." Sciat told them, joking. He knew that it wasn't going to be fun.

"Well, it's time we head on to the fight, isn't it? After all, we don't want to keep the crowds waiting for too long." Aaron told Soul, the pair quickly combining their bodies once again. "After all, I don't know if you'll be teleported with me or not, so it's just better to have this prepared so we won't be surprised," Aaron said to himself, clicking the button that said {Accept}. He didn't want to know what would happen if he chose the less exciting option.

{Wow, aren't you bloodthirsty? Have fun.}

"Alright, now that's just mockery at this point." Soul and Aaron said together, their voices coming from Aaron's mouth. As soon as the message disappeared, Aaron fell downwards. Not to anywhere that they were able to see, however. Aaron, almost as quickly as he had fallen, hit the ground, his spine somehow not breaking from the impact. He stood up, shaking himself off. His body was back to being like it was on the planet they had just left. He was waiting for the announcer and his loud voice to announce to the crowd who he was, but there was no voice. Maybe it was just for actual death matches that there was an announcer.

However, one similarity between this one and the death-match was the scoreboard. In Aaron's side of the arena, the preparation room, Aaron could see his human face. At least they updated it. On the other side was a load of mismatched, garbled information that didn't seem right. The Boundless Percentage was read as ꪊ᭢ƙ᭢ꪮ᭙᭢᭢ꪊꪑꪉꫀꪹᦋꫀ᭢ꫀꪹꪖᡶꫀᦔ% while his name was ỉ᭢కꫀꪹᡶꪑỉకకỉ᭢ᦋ᭢ꪮ. It wasn't natural. There wasn't even a picture here for his opponent. It was almost as if they were trying to confuse him about his opponent.

The door to the arena opened up, and he walked out, hand on Tsuyukagiri, almost as if he was prepared to kill on-sight. The crowds seemingly cheered his name, almost like they were praising him for simply existing for their entertainment. Aaron put his hand into the air and waved slightly. This was enough to stimulate the crowd into giving him a cheer. As his opponent walked out, Aaron didn't recognise them. They were coated in a suit of heavy armour, almost as if they were preparing for his strikes. In their hands was a large hammer. Almost like something you'd see out of a video game, it was that large.

On the scoreboard, he was able to see what the person he was fighting against was named.

{Bunjinjinki The Armorer}

{The Ultimate Killer}

{Boundless Percentage: 50%}

"Oh wow, a title like the Ultimate Killer. Well, I'm afraid that I'll have to take that title from you." Aaron announced, Soul hopping out from the side of his body. "I'll be here to make sure of that," Soul announced to the audience, stimulating them. Bujinjinki looked towards the pair, and with a snort, he rushed towards them at an almost invisible speed. However, this had become such a common occurrence for Soul and Aaron that they just simply teleported behind the armoured brute, stabbing him in his back with a quick poke with Tsuykagiri from Aaron, while Soul shoved his pointed fist through the armour, breaking through it as if it was butter. "Now that's just disappointing." Soul and Aaron said simultaneously, Soul pulling out Bujinjinki's heart. Bujinjinki fell to the ground, blood leaking everywhere. "The battle's over. Time to teleport us out of here." Aaron said to Soul before a message appeared in the centre of his vision.

{You may not leave the battlefield until the battle is over.}

And that's when it hit them.

I mean that literally.
