Chapter 162 - Skeletal Again

Aaron felt light envelop him as a new form began to take hold. His body changed shape, his flesh falling away from him. Skeletal joints once again showed themselves. Instead of being white, however, they were a strangely black colour. Like how he was the first time he ever visited a planet. Although, it wasn't the same type of skeletal structure that he had there. He could feel bones shooting out from his back, so he turned his head, seeing a wing made of lightened bone, in contrast to the rest of his body. He tried to look towards the other wing, but then when the lights got blinding. He couldn't see himself nor Crystet, so he just kept his eyes focused on where they were about to land.

Aaron felt his feet land on cold stone, but he couldn't see what was happening around him. He moved his hands up and down, feeling almost exactly like he did on the first planet. His eyes cleared of the brightness, allowing Aaron to look around the area. All he could see was that he was inside a mossy temple, and there were dead bodies strewn across the floor, with one sole human dressed in robes, visibly afraid for his life. Aaron just looked at his body and realised what was going on.

"Great. I'm at my max evolution. What about you, Crystet?" Aaron asked while turning to face Crystet, only to find out why no noise had been made from Crystet. His eyes had split into four, two in their original positions and two above his head. Two of those eyes were completely red, so he really looked the part of a demon. He also had wings on his back, but he furled them into his clothes, which were strangely chosen as a suit. His mouth was pointed into a smile as his teeth were sharper than the tip of a sword. "What the fuck happened to me?" Crystet asked himself before looking at Aaron with surprise. "How the hell are you a skeleton?!" Crystet yelled as Aaron just shrugged. "No idea. How the hell are you a demon?" Aaron asked in return, much to the blank response of Crystet. "Same thing. Neither of us knows how we became like this." Crystet replied, confusing the single person there.

"He's...he's here...the Demon Lord has been summoned!" The human yelled, running out of the temple, confusing both Crystet and Aaron until Aaron realised what was happening. "Oh my god. We've been summoned to a time where people tried summoning a Demon Lord. Since we both went together, one of us became the Demon Lord, this being you, and since I had a powerful form already, I am either your subordinate or just a random monster. Honestly, I'd prefer the latter option, but it's not really like I have a choice." Aaron explained, causing Crystet to realise what just happened. "This isn't really the best of scenarios, is it? How the hell are we going to explore with a huge bounty on our heads? If we get hunted, I'll be the one they target." Crystet worried as Aaron tried calming him down.

"If you've been chosen as the Demon Lord for this world, you sure must have gotten some abilities alongside your new form. Maybe it could be something to do with the fact that you have four eyes?" Aaron reasoned, tapping Crystet on the head with his bony finger. "The only reason I have my form is probably because of the fact that I was originally a skeleton, at least, after being a human. My evolution line was unique, so I became powerful in a short amount of time, thanks to my abilities." Aaron further explained, examining his body to make sure everything was correct. "I mean, I could easily turn myself back into a human, but I'll only do that when it's necessary. I like the freedom of getting to swap between them, you know?" Aaron finished, leaving Crystet stunned.

"Wow. You can change how you look? That's amazing! I'm pretty much stuck like this. We aren't sure which of us is the Demon Lord, but you immediately assumed it was me, so we'll just go with the assumption that I am. I want to think of us as partners in crime if you've heard that saying before. I may be the Demon Lord here, but we both know who is stronger." Crystet responded before coming up with an idea of what to do.

"Back on my home planet, the one that got blown up, you'd see stuff like this in anime or manga, so maybe we could do stuff like that. We could observe humanity from afar, and if there are decent people, we leave them alone. All of the ones that manipulate and abuse others, though, we stop them. Like heroes!" Crystet exclaimed, his childish personality coming to the front once again. It hadn't been lost to the Monster he was.

"I'm not even going to joke about this, Crystet. It sounds like it could be a fun way to spend our time. After all, it's not like we need to do anything specific yet. It'll be quite intriguing to see how the humans here operate." Aaron responded, clicking his fingers. His body returned to that of a human, except he kept his skeletal wings. "The wings look cool, so I'm going to keep them visible if I'm not talking to humans. Around you, I'm going to return to my normal form. I just want to see how they work." Aaron reasoned. He imagined his wings flapping, and he watched as they almost immediately began flapping up and down as he imagined them. It was amazing.

Aaron also coated himself in a suit, but it was his signature suit, just so that the outfit wouldn't be mistaken with Crystet's. After all, a man had to have something he could call his own.

"So, let's go out and explore this world, shall we?" Aaron asked Crystet as he stepped down off the platform and past the stray bodies out into the sunlight.
