KNOCK KNOCK
"May I come in?" the voice of Aeson's.
I waved my hand, gesturing to the maids to open the door.
"I just had an audience with the council," he said as he waved some papers. "They were asking permission for a hunting competition in your honour." he passed me some papers.
I just flipped through them looking for the place where I had to sign.
"When is it?"
"They actually wanted to host it when you became their Queen but since you were busy conquering our neighbors to make the Kingdom into an Empire so they just waited. The hunting competition will be held next week. On the day you-"
"I was poisoned and when they thought I died. Sure no problem.'' I signed it but stopped before writing the last letter 'a'.
"Wait, I have to be in it? So I can't just stay at the Palace?" I asked in disbelief.
"You gotta be there. It should be fine if you watched by the tower or had tea with the ladies but-"
I only half heard him. I quickly opened the drawer and took out a sheet of paper searching for any information about the competition. It appears she competed in it.
"I'm going to compete in it." I muttered.
Aeson faltered. "You, what?"
"I'm going to compete!" I signed the paper properly, and handed it to Aeson.
"Whoah whoah whoah. Hold up. Let's talk this through. What if-"
"Are you doubting your strong sister who went to war and conquered a bunch of countries? I have the right to compete since the event is tributed to me." I snapped.
Aeson pursed his lips and bowed. "As you wish, Sister. But you must have a personal guard with you. " he insisted.
I did not want that. "Only if they win a sword fight against me. If they do then they get the honours of guarding me. Otherwise, what's the point of a guard?"
"Yes. I will tell them. I will arrange a schedule." He turned to leave the room.
"Oh, and let's say 50 or 60% of the meat we catch will go to the commoners, and to the people who are suffering the plague."
Aeson bowed and left the room.
I knew I was making extra work, but it was just in case anyone I knew like Callista, was suffering without food.
I started to read the events I recorded about Rela. She won the hunt unanimously. She caught the most animals. She there caught more people's attention, although she had enough. I think she was given a new nickname. Actually two nicknames. I forgot what they were but I will find out later anyways. (Atalanta and artemis.)
There she did meet some major people. Hmm, I'm not sure why I stopped writing about it. It looks like nothing particularly bad happened at the hunt, which meant I could kick out and watch the competition as my body took over, and my thoughts slipped into a dreamless dream.
SNAP!
My eyes flew open, as I grimaced due to the brightness. Wait, I'm standing? My eyes adjusted to the brightness as I scanned my surroundings. I was outside, by the woods or something. The air was warm and it was the normal summer weather. I looked down at my clothes.
Hunting clothes. Did only my conscious mind sleep? That was pretty risky. I had to keep an eye on that. I looked around for anyone. I desperately tried to let my body take control but it looks like I slept way too long. My mental HP was probably charged for a year. It didn't seem to work.
I managed to calm down and tried to think. Sadly my memories went blank like it was still blank.
RUSTLE RUSTLE
My ears perked up. I quietly unsheathed my sword and crouched down to get a small rock. I threw the rock to the bush.
Suddenly a pig or a boar charged down and out of panic I stabbed it. Blood spattered on the ground and on to my arms. My weak mind screamed.
'Come on. I have done this before.' I repeated in my mind. But that time was different, because I had supporters behind my back.
I checked my pockets out of habit. A stamp. I guess you put a stamp onto the animal you caught.
I moved on while stumbling into a bunch of animals while searching for the way out. There were quite many animals which were already caught by the competitors.
I looked around but I still found no presence of people. I kept on searching for a way out, or maybe find my horse while killing animals that attacked me first.
Aurelia was a person who didn't like killing wild animals for no reason. If they stayed quiet, or if they seemed harmless she would ignore it but if they actually attacked her first then she would kill them in a blink. I nearly killed a bear but when I saw that it was trembling, and when I saw its baby cub, I hesitated and gave it some berries I found.
This was getting boring. I mean I couldn't find the exit, I was lonely and the animals were so weak I pitied them.
RUSTLE RUSTLE CRACK RUSTLE
Excitingly, I swung my sword to the source of the sound only to find myself with masked men with a robe. I quickly compressed the urge to shriek and drop my sword by surprise.
Thankfully, Rela's body didn't seem surprised since it didn't lose the grip on the sword, and i didnt tremble.
"And you are?'' I glared into the dude who was closest into its eyes.
There seemed to be four of them. An assasination attempt? What a joke. It's still too few people to try. Rela would have kicked their asses in less than four minutes. The masked people remained silent and drew their swords.
"I was just getting bored!" I cried.
They attacked but not all at the same time. That was unusual or, did they not invent that technique yet. Or maybe they were saving their energy, or they knew their outcome if everyone at the same time attacked.
Instead of stabbing them, I decided to slash so they get weak by blood loss. I knocked two people down. But i was having a hard time as i was breathing heavily. They are quite skilled but not skilled enough to outlive me. One more person to go.
I turned around just in time to get struck by a needle or something. Something that was small, pointy and that pricked.
I quickly pulled it out of my right arm. I was fairly sure he dipped that needle in something, so I had to finish him quickly.
We clashed.
