Chapter 45 - Conversation With Younger Brother

TLN: We finally know that there is a younger brother! So, as of now, there are 3 children in Ars' family! I think that Ars' brother wasn't introduced yet, because he had still yet to pass the Baptismal ceremony and didn't have a name before that.....

"Nii-san, what's with your difficult-looking face?"

"Hmm? Kyle? No, I'm just thinking about something."

My younger brother, Kyle, talked to me as I was thinking about the road.

The boy who finished the baptismal ceremony this year.

"Actually, it seems that the window panes I made aren't selling at all."

"Oh, that transparent and beautiful item? Mom said it was a hindrance to the other things piled up in the warehouse."

That's right.

I had came up with a new product, glass panes for windows, when I went to the city.

I thought it would definitely sell, but it didn't sell at all.

All the buildings I saw in the city were made of brick and had no windows.

They're so closed in that the buildings feel like prisons.

That's why I thought that if more houses with windows were added as new buildings, more people would be happy.

However, those window panes didn't sell at all.

The reason is simple.

This is probably because the residents are not dissatisfied with the current situation.

No matter how much I say, "This is a good thing," no one wants to try something they've never seen before.

I was reborn in this world and have been keenly aware of it.

What this means is that what I think of as necessary and beneficial things might not sell.

It is the fact that some people wanted an item that could be sold as a product, and not all convenient products may be sold that trade and selling even works.

By the way, I think I heard that in countries and regions where economic power was low, even in my previous life, only simple and hard-to-break products were sold compared to high-quality and high-performance products, and many Japanese products had some difficulties selling there.

Isn't there anyone spending money on things they don't need even more in this area where people are bartering in the village?

"I don't think they're going to sell."

"Is it really that unlikely to sell? I would certainly want some of the other items, though."

"Eh? Kyle, do you want something?"

"Yeah. I'm always admiring the beautiful furniture in Ars-nii's new house, thinking that they look really good."

Is it furniture ...

By the way, when I recreated the inn with magic, there was nothing, so I asked the lumberjacks to help make me some furniture as well as the door.

I had them make chairs and shelves on the reception counter by looking over them working.

I also like the new bed because it has a nice scent of wood.

"If people want that type of furniture, not many lumberjacks make and sell furniture. Why is it that?"

"Isn't it because the wood that'll be used is heavy when carrying it?"

"... I see. It may be possible."

Certainly, Maddock-san seems to have said that the wood cut by the lumberjacks is most often sold as firewood.

There are several reasons.

This is because there is little demand for large timber because there are few wooden buildings to watch out for fires because there is a spell called [Ignition] in life magic.

All you need may be furniture materials and firewood.

However, there is not much demand for furniture in the village because old ones are used carefully.

On the other hand, the city is far away.

It takes three days to walk.

A peddler who makes a decent amount of money may be able to buy and get a Familiar that can pull a cart.

However, the lumberjacks don't have that much reserved funds, so they can't buy a Familiar.

As a result, only the firewood loaded on the back of the carrier can be carried.

There may be such a situation.

"It's an interesting idea. Let's see if furniture sells by putting some up for one test run."

"Yeah. I hope it sells, nii-san."

"If it sells, it's Kyle's credit. Let's buy a feast from a peddler and eat it."

"It's a promise, nii-san!"

Yeah, it might be a good idea.

And to be honest, I wanted to sell something other than what my magic makes.

My magical power may be greater than that of humans, but it is not infinite.

It's also not econimically good that only the items I make sell.

At the extreme, my absence would cause an economic collapse in the village.

My land has expanded to a certain extent, and it may be time to create an environment where not only myself, but also the people around me can make money.

Shall we make something like a company?

Apparently, there is a tendency for peddlers to buy things that are made in each indivisual household from people that are essentially working at home, but it seems that there is no system in which many people work together to make common products.

If furniture sells to some extent, it may be interesting to work hard to build a building like a factory and hire people to make products.

From the conversation with my brother, I came up with something I wanted to do.
