Chapter 1 - Athens And The Last Gods

"I refuse to believe this is our only option."

"Do you think that you have the power to survive against Him?"

"Is this much better, for the mighty gods to cower and run?"

Zeus and Odin had been arguing since the beginning of the meeting. Odin wished to break open the dimensional barrier and flee. While Zeus had never wavered from his belief that they should stay. The world was going through a purge as they spoke, the Asian gods were facing annihilation. The few gods of Asia that did flee were here in the meeting. Eventually, Athena began to speak.

"It is not cowardly to run from a foe you cannot face. Father, when you attacked the mortals at Thessalonia did you think they were cowardly when they ran from you?"

Zeus responded quickly and didn't notice the trap Athena had laid. "Of course not why they choose to face me when a flick of my finger could kill them"

"Then why do you choose to face Him?"

Zeus was taken aback and arguing continued for Three days Straight. Eventually, it was decided that the gods would flee. They all began to prepare an attack that would break space-time and take them to the Salin. Salin was the closest universe in reach to them.

**********

Meanwhile in Athens, Adras was walking back from the fields to his house. His father let him leave work early, but he had to go pick up tools from the market. Their sickle had broken and some new horseshoes were needed. He walked into the house and grabbed a pack to put the tools in. Then he set off to the market. As soon as he arrived clouds began to gather.

They appeared out of nowhere and then a loud shriek was heard as if mother Earth herself had wailed. Then the ground shook and split, fire danced across the sky, and the oceans rose in rebellion. Then as everyone thought the world would end, dead silence came. Then as if glass shattered the air itself craked and a vortex opened up. Air rushed inside and then it turned a dark red, blood red. The earth shook again, but this time in response to the change of the portal. Then over a hundred bodies from the air were sucked in and Athens people followed. The Earth itself treated the people near the portal as if they were cancer and pushed everyone near it in. Then the cracks began to close almost like a wound being healed. The silence returned.
