Chapter 1 - "The Accident"

Amy's POV:

I can feel tears stinging my eyes as I speed away on my motorcycle. I had driven two hours to see him only to find him in the arms of another woman. I had tried calling him several times but he didn't answer so I just hopped on my bike and headed to him. He then had the audacity to tell me I should have called first and that as a man he has needs and that he couldn't wait on me to be ready!

We had been together two years today and I wanted to surprise him but now I realize how foolish I really was. I had moved away after college to spread my wings as a journalist at a publishing agency in the city. I should have realized there was something up when he didn't want to come with me. He has no job and lives with his parents but he still wouldn't budge on the matter and now I know why.

My vision becomes more blurry as I relize how stupid and foolish I really was, blinded by the wanting for someone to finally really love me. Before I realize it my bike is on its side as I slide off the road and into the brush. Once I'm on my feet I stagger back out to the street side. My phone suddenly rings in my pocket and I look at the screen to see a message from Peter flash across it.

"Look I don't want us to break up but you need to give up the goods if you want this to work."

I scream loudly and throw my phone into the woods as more tears fall down my face. That bastard! I waited a few minutes and sighed as I stomped back into the brush to collect my bag and the contents that had scattered everywhere. I lifted my bike and tried to start the engine. Nothing I did worked. I sighed in defeat and began looking for my phone. I stumbled across a dirty looking tee shirt.

I started to pick it up when I noticed my phone a few feet from it. I immediately dropped the shirt and grabbed my phone then headed back towards the main road making sure my bike was hidden from view. I began walking until I found the bus station as I set up a time for them to tow my bike back home for me then I sat down and waited patiently for the bus to arrive. After 30 minutes or so the bus arrived and I swiftly boarded and anticipated my ride home. I wanted as far away from this place as possible.

Brad's POV:

I was driving as fast as I could go to reach the outskirts of the city. I had gotten a strange phone call from Henry, a close friend of mine, and I worried he might be in danger. I quickly made my way to the location he said to meet at but there was no one around. I lit up a cigarette and waited for a few minutes before something in the brush across the road caught my eye. I walked across the road and into the brush to find a large black bike set just behind the bush. I looked around the area but the only thing I found was a bloody tee shirt and a half ripped piece of paper with Henry's hand writing on it.

I inhaled sharply and stuffed the paper in my pocket. I kicked the tee shirt under a nearby bush and returned to the bike. I snapped a picture of the plates then sent it to a friend in the local police force to see if they could locate who it belonged to. Within an hour I had the information I needed and was headed back towards Manhattan where I sat in my car just outside a small house outside of the main city.

A few hours had gone by when a taxi pulled up and a young woman matching the description I had received stepped from the house. She was physically fit and petite with sun kissed skin and chocolate colored hair that fell down her exposed back. Not bad looking I thought to myself. I started my car as the taxi pulled away and followed them at a safe distance. The cab stopped outside a popular nightclub and I inhaled sharply.

Amy's POV:

Peter had continued to send me several more messages once I arrived back home and with each message I only became more enraged at him. I had been invited out by a coworker but upon arrival at the club it was impossible to find her. I sat down at the bar and ordered a few drinks as I looked out over the floor.

Soon a tall man approached the counter and sat a few seats away from me. His muscles rippled across his broad shoulders and chest and his chiseled face had a slight five o'clock shadow. His arms were covered in tattoos that started at his wrists and disappeared under the sleeves of his shirt. His hair was dark brown and his eyes a bright blue. He was wearing a black v neck tee that exposed his chest and a pair of dark blue jeans. I had only agreed to come out tonight to let loose and enjoy my new freedom and was reluctant at best and now I was wishing I had turned her down.

I was getting a bad vibe being here or maybe the alcohol was taking effect either way I wanted to leave. The man ordered a round and downed the glass quickly before setting it down and asking for another. A few minutes go by when the bartender refills my drink as he glances at the strange man down the bar. I tip my glass politely at the man and he suddenly stands and walks over to me.
