"Baby?" Elliot mumbles as we lay on my bed. I turn to face her so that we are both lying on our sides now.
The Principal sent us home and gave Elliot detention for Monday. I was let off the hook with just the suspension since it was not my fault. I was an accomplice though apparently. Adrian got a month full of detention for using slurs and provoking other students. He was also sent home for today.
Elliot and I decided to spend some time at my house before she has to go for a rehearsal for the Charity program.
"Did I scare you? I am so sorry I let my anger get the best of me." She whispers, her fingers coming up to brush against my cheek. I lean into her touch, smiling slightly.
"He had it coming. He shouldn't have said that." I shrug, staring into her beautiful brown eyes. People really underestimate brown eyes. They are so warm and pretty. The color of wood that fuels a welcoming fire at a bonfire. It's so easy to get lost in brown eyes. Everyone talks about how pretty and gorgeous blue or green eyes are but brown eyes are so disarming and so warm. Always. And they look like molten chocolate and honey half of the time. Golden in the sun and the moon, enhancing the warmth and the comfort they emit.
"I was scared I scared you off." She sighs, turning away to face the ceiling. I move in and cuddle up to her. I rest my head on her chest and her arms circle my waist.
"Something like a little anger isn't going to scare me off, Eli." I mumble in her hoodie. A chuckle vibrates under my ear.
"Eli, uh? I like it." I look up at her with a grin. She leans down, pecking my lips softly. I can't help the moan that escapes my throat. Her arm around my waist tightens, pulling me closer to where I am nearly lying on top of her. My hand comes up to rest on her cheek as she deepens the kiss, her nose brushing against mine. Our lips move together in slow, soft precision, trying to savour the moment. There's no rush or hurry...
There's a fire in my stomach that makes me realize how much I missed this since yesterday afternoon.
An annoying buzzing makes Elliot pull back with a groan. I giggle breathily as she rests her forehead against mine.
"I will kill whoever it is." I pull away and sit up. Elliot sits up too, running a hand through her hair as she accepts the call. "Hey, Jaxx. What's up?... I'll ask her and text you… Yes, we are at her house." She rolls her eyes, "No, Jaxx! Shut up. I'll text you or see you there, alright?" She shakes her head, her cheeks red. My curiosity peaks. What did Jaxx say that made Elliot blush?
"What did they say?" I ask when she hangs up. She looks at me with a groan.
"They were asking if we wanted to meet them at the place we hang out at at lunchtime." I shrug. We don't have anything in house either. So I would've had to cook something or order out.
"Sure. I'm cool with it."
"That gives me less time with you alone though…" She pouts, crossing her arms like a little kid who's denied candy. I check my watch and smirk at her. I crawl over to her as she watches me with cautious eyes.
"We should make the most of this half an hour then." I climb on her lap and wrap my arms around her neck, leaving a trail of kisses from her ear to her lips. "Don't you think?" I whisper. Her arms tighten around my waist, pulling me impossibly closer to her as she presses our lips together in an urgent kiss.
"So, Thals. Got your eyes on someone?" I nearly choke on my burger at Audrey's question at the same time Elliot's hand on my knee tightens.
"I am not looking for anything right now." I shake my head at her and she frowns across the table. We are in a small, hole-in-the-wall kinda cafe that according to Elliot had the best cheeseburgers and she did not lie. We have occupied the booth in the back that seats 8 people. Elliot, Tara and I sit on one side while Teagan, Jaxx, Sean and Audrey occupy the other side.
"Come on. You can still have some fun. I mean we are highschoolers. No one is looking for a permanent thing." Tara snorts at that, stabbing her salad a little too hard.
"Easy for you to say when you are in a stable relationship, Auds." She points out. "Not all of us are blessed enough to have amazing partners. Some of us get stuck with jerks." I notice the glare that she shoots Jaxx and the way they look tense.
"Alrighty then. No need to fire shots at anyone." Audrey breaks the tension before it gets too much. "Thals, Elliot's not looking for a relationship either." I raise an eyebrow at Elliot who shrugs innocently. "Elliot, you'd do her, right? She's exactly your type." I want to kill Audrey so bad. I can't believe she'd do this. I just want the Earth to open up and swallow me whole again.
"I mean… If I got a chance, sure. But not if it's going to affect our friendship." Elliot's hand squeezes my knee under the table before she takes it off. I frown at the sudden loss of heat but turn my attention to the table.
"But you two are like the perfect couple." Audrey whines and I groan.
"What is it about us that makes you all feel like we would make a great couple?" I ask, looking around the table.
"I mean… they are not wrong. You two do look very good together and you guys have a very impeccable chemistry." Sean chimes in, sipping his milkshake.
"She is a good person and she is amazing. I don't see how we can't just be friends." I shrug, slurping my strawberry milkshake through the straw.
"I am not saying you cannot." Sean held his hands up in defense.
"But I ain't never seen two beautiful best friends." Teagan snorts, making my eyes snap at her.
"Audrey and Elliot are best friends!" I yell at her, throwing a fry at her.
"Audrey is straight though." She shrugs, picking up the fry from her sweater and eating it. I wrinkle my nose at her but ignore her otherwise.
"Bisexual actually." Audrey corrects her.
"Ha! Proves my point!" I point at my sister.
"Actually… We have slept together… Tried at the whole relationship but didn't work out. She fell for our jock instead." Elliot explains nervously. She looks at me uncertain of how I might react to this I guess.
"You are a jock too, dumbass." Jaxx snorts and I laugh.
"They are right. You are a jock - dumb and stupid." I flick Elliot's forehead as she scrunches her nose in that cute manner that I adore so much. She swats my hand away from her face as I reach over to do it again. It soon escalated into a small playful fight as we both swat at each other's hands repeatedly.
"You two are so cute!" Tara squeals from the other side of Elliot. Her eyes literally look like the anime ones. I roll my eyes at her and pull away from Elliot, straightening out my t-shirt.
"Thank you, Tara." Elliot grins at her. "Well… I have to go to the rehearsal. I'll see you all tomorrow evening. Call me when you guys get there, yeah?"
"Okay. All the best, man!" Sean says as Elliot gets out of the booth after Tara.
"Wait! I have my stuff in your car." I rush out quickly before Tara can sit down again. I don't want her to leave without a kiss and I really do have my stuff in her car.
"Drive safe and text me when you get home, okay?" I tell Elliot as I sling my purse over my shoulder. Elliot nods at me with a goofy smile before wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me closer.
"I will. But I can't leave without a kiss." She whispers, pushing stray hair away from my face. I chuckle at her, wrapping my arms around her waist.
"Are you always this clingy?" Elliot shrugs, slightly swaying us from side to side. My heart melts at the action.
"Are you always this addictive?" I shake my head at her stupid smirk but a smile makes its way on my lips. "Now give me my kiss." She puckers her lips and closes her eyes. I reach up on my tiptoes and press my lips against hers. Her arms tighten around me as our lips move together.
"Alright. You have to go now." I say, pulling away just as the kiss starts getting a little too heated. I do not want to spend the rest of the day hot and bothered and the cold showers always give me a cold and a headache.
Elliot kisses my forehead, gives me one last hug before walking to the driver's side. My eyes land on a heap of fabric in her passenger seat and I knock on the window. She looks confused but rolls the windows down.
"What?" She asks, leaning over the seat.
"I am going to take this." I reach over and grab her hoodie from the passenger seat. She grins and leans back.
"Am I getting it back?" I shake my head as I tie it around my waist, "Okay then." She starts the car. "Bye, Thals."
"Text me without fail, okay?" She nods and pulls onto the street. I stand there till she disappears and I turn around with a smile, taking a whiff of the hoodie sleeve. Creepy, I know but she smells amazing.
My blood freezes as I see all our friends standing in the doorway with maniacal smiles on their faces.
'Shit.'
