Chapter 2 - The One Where I Accidentally Get High and Meet An Angel

"I can't believe you guys forced me in this." I groan, pulling the tight leather skirt down as we get out of the car at a Victorian type of house. It's already loud and smells like alcohol.

"You look hot. So deal with it." Teagan rolls her eyes at me. Tara nods along. They have both managed to bully me into a shirt black leather skirt that stops mid thigh, a black t-shirt and a red and black shirt around my waist to signify my 'gayness'. I hate it already. My hair is up in a bun and the amount of pins hurt. At least they let me do my own makeup. I kept it simple. A smoky eye and red lipstick.

"Are you sure I look good? I mean first impressions are everything. And I really want to impress Jaxx." Tara asks for the unkempt time. I roll my eyes as my sister joins in her worrying.

"Guys! Tara, if I wasn't already seeing you as an extension of my sister, I'd do you." She's dressed in a black jumpsuit with nude pumps. Her hair is in a ponytail and contrasts perfectly with the black. The red lipstick and black winged eyeliner makes her blue eyes pop. The suit hugs all the right curves. "Teagan… You look hot too. Anyone would be a fool to turn you down tonight." She's wearing a cute black dress with black platforms. Her colored blue hair is wavy and flows down her back like a waterfall. The dress shows generous curves and her blue eyes shine because of her hair. "Now can we go in before I decide to leave you here and drive back home?" They nod vigorously and I turn around to start walking to the door.

"You guys are just going to leave me alone?!" I yell as Tara makes a beeline for a green haired individual across the room and Teagan is immediately attacked by Cameron. He pulls her away to meet some other guys on his team and just like that… I am alone in a stranger's house, packed with horny teenagers. "Well… This sure is great for my anxiety." I mumble, walking inside the living room and looking around for the kitchen, "The least I can do is get a drink."

And that is how I find myself sitting on the kitchen counter with a bag of gummies. I found it lying around. I thought I'd eat a few. They are my favorite candy. I'd kill anyone for gummies. But these make me feel a little light headed and funny in my tummy.

I see Spongebob sitting near the sink and squeal. I lean over and grab it, bringing it closer to my face. A giggle escapes my lips as I study it.

"My friends dumped me, Mr. Bob. But you'll keep me company, right?" I ask the sponge before bursting out in laughter.

"Uh… Can you please move a little? I need to get some glasses from the cupboard." A voice quiets me down and I look up at the source. I gasp as I take in the angel before me.

The girl is so pretty. Her eyes look like melted chocolate and her hair is the color of dark chocolate. Her lips, the color of red velvet cake and her jaw looks sharp enough to carve a bar of chocolate that was stuck in a freezer.

Have I mentioned how much I love chocolate? It's the best-

"Hello? Earth to Mystery Girl?" The angel waves her hand in front of my face. I shake my head and start to get down from the counter, still staring at her beautiful eyes. My legs feel like Jell-O and I feel light headed instantly, "Woah… Steady there." The angel picks me up by my waist and sits me down on the counter out of her way.

"You are so strong!" I exclaim, looking at her with wide eyes.

"You are really light, love." She smirks, making me gasp at how hot her smirk is.

"Spongebob… Tell the pretty girl she's strong." I say, nearly thrusting the sponge in her face. She laughs as she looks at me confusedly.

"Spongebob, huh?" She asks and I nod wistfully.

"Yes. Spongebob never lies." I tell her sternly as she bursts out laughing, "Your laugh is soooo musical. Like windchimes!" I gasp, "No wait! Like wind rustling the trees!" I smile proudly as I come up with the perfect analogy.

"Okay, then. What have you been eating, Mystery Girl?" She asks, extending a palm towards me. I am taken aback by the sternness on her voice and look down at the pack of gummy bears in my hand, then back at her again.

"Nope." I shake my head and jump down from the counter, hiding the bag behind my back, "You'll have to catch me first." I grin at her and turn around, running out of the kitchen.

"No! Mystery Girl! Come back!" She yells behind me. I look back over my shoulder and squeak like a mouse as I see the angel hot on my heels. I am just barely out of her reach. I look ahead of me and see the stairs. Running to them quickly, I take them two at a time. When I reach the top of the stairs, I turn around to see the angel, standing below the stairs with a frustrated expression. I giggle and stick my tongue at her before running off to the right. The lights here are dim and so beautiful. There are family photos all around and I spot one where the angel is sitting with a woman. The angel doesn't look older than 4 years. She looks so cute in denim overalls and a small ponytail that looks like a coconut tree. The lady who's holding her is so beautiful. She has the angel's pretty brown eyes and the angel's smile too.

"Look, Mr. Spongebob, baby angel is soooo cute." I mumble, my eyes taking in everything they can about the painting.

"There you are." A voice says, panting heavily. I look up and my eyes widen when I see the girl at the end of the hallway. I squeal and bound into the first room I see, "No! Not in there!" The angel yells and runs down the hall but I shut the door and lean against it before she can get in, "Come on, Mystery Girl. Open the door."

"First promise me you won't take my gummy bears from me!" I yell back, slowly walking backwards.

"Gummy bears?" The girl makes a confused sound before groaning, "Of fucking Course. Fine. I won't take your gummy bears. Can I come in now?" She asks in a soft voice just as I take a seat on the chair behind the desk. Apparently, I have stumbled into a study.

"Fine. You can." I nod as I spin in the chair, "Weeeee!"

The angel walks in and takes a seat in the chair across the table from me. I stop spinning to look at her.

"How the fuck did you manage to run so fast when you could barely stand a few minutes ago?" She asks, breathing heavily.

"Baby you was cuter." I observe, squinting at her, "Am I right, Mr. Spongebob?" I look at Spongebob. "He agrees."

"Thank you, I guess?" She raises an eyebrow at me. Her hair is in a disarray and she looks tired and resigned.

"And your mom is very very pretty." The girl stiffens before a sad smile comes over her red velvet lips. "She's sad." I whisper to Spongebob, "I will hug her." I get up from the seat and wobble over to her. My feet feel even more like Jell-O now. She is looking down at the table top when I stumble and fall in her lap. She looks up, her arms coming up to wrap around my waist on reflex. "Don't be sad. Smile." I mumble, placing my fingers on the sides of her lips and lifting them up, "I didn't mean to make you sad." I pout, looking down at my hands in my lap.

"I am okay. My mom passed away last year." She whispers, "But yes. She was very very pretty." A silence falls over us and it makes me feel itchy.

"I just want to make some friends." I blurt out. She looks down at me with wide eyes.

"What?" She asks, her eyebrows furrowed.

"Everyone thinks I am boring because I don't like partying and all the typical highschool stuff. And my sister and this one new friend I made today think that I would like this really popular girl named Elliot. At least I think she's popular? But all popular girls do is break your hearts. And I don't want that again. But they even came up with a ship name for us. Ellia. It's cute and maybe she's a good person and maybe completely my type but there's no way she'll like a loser like me. And all I want to do is make friends." I feel a tear run down my cheek and a finger comes up to wipe it away.

"Hey… I don't think you are boring at all. This party was getting lame before I stumbled upon you. I think you are awesome and this Elliot person would be an idiot to turn you down. I will be your friend. How about that?" She smiles down at me and I feel warm inside. Like someone put a sun in there.

"Pinky promise?" I ask, extending my pinky between us. She chuckles but laces our pinks.

"Pinky promise." She shakes them, "Now what do you say we go make some more friends?" She asks. I grin at the suggestion.

"Yay! I would love that!" I jump up but stumble a little.

"Woah… How about I give you a piggyback ride? I give great piggyback rides." The angel asks me and I nod vigorously.

"The gummies make me feel weird. I don't want them anymore." I hold them out to her. She takes them and stuffs the packet in her pockets before squatting down before me. I jump up and wrap my legs around her waist and my arms around her neck. Her arms come up to hold my thighs. "Onwards, peasant!" I yell pointing towards the door. She chuckles.

"Your word is my command."

I groan loudly as I sit in the school library with my head in my hands. It hurts so bad.

Ever since I got to school, everyone has been either staring at me, asking me out or telling me I was "fucking dope" and "so cool" and they wanted to be my "friend". I don't remember anything from the time I entered that kitchen and had three gummies. I woke up today morning in my own bed with Tara throwing up in my bathroom and Teagan snoring on the other side of the bed. They decided to ditch school and stay at home nursing their hangovers. Thankfully, I did not have one. But my head still hurts like hell. As if someone's going to crack my skull open.

"So, about last night…" A voice spoke from before me. I groan and rest my head on the table.

"If you are going to say it was so cool or ask me out, I am not interested. Please leave me alone. I don't even want to be your friend." I add.

"I actually got you a vanilla latte." The voice says and I peek up at the Starbucks cup in front of me before sitting up and looking at the stranger before me.

Her chocolate brown eyes stare at me with recognition though I have never seen her before. She tilts her head up, taking a sip of her coffee and gives me a fantastic view of her jawline.

"Why? I mean I appreciate it but why would you do that for a stranger?" I ask, looking at her cautiously as she licks her lips and sighs.

"So, you don't remember anything at all, huh?" She raises a perfectly arched and slit eyebrow at me and I groan, resting my head on the table again.

"Nope. Apparently, I was the most fun last night and I have no idea what I did."

"Well… I can tell you everything. I mean I did babysit you for the whole night. At least till the time your sister decided to grab you and your friend and leave. Oh by the way, I feel like you should lay off of cat Reels on Instagram or cat Tiktoks for a while." My head shoots up to give this stranger a look of utter horror.

"What did I do?" I ask, cautiously. I love cats. A lot. And Catstagram is a gem.

"You ran around my living room yelling "no petting, no petting" when your sister tried to take you home." I freeze. My stomach dropped as the absolutely horrible image flashed before my eyes, "Don't worry. That was hella cute and funny." The girl snorts and I want to wipe that smirk off of her face so bad, "Drink that coffee before it becomes too cold and I'll tell you the rest too." She gestures to my cup and I nod.

"First tell me your name." She smiles a wide smile, flashing cute bunny teeth and my heart literally flops in my chest.

"I'm Elliot. Elliot Fernsbury. Nice to meet you, Mystery Girl." The lazy smirk on her lips sends me back to last night as a memory of me sitting on this girl's lap flashes through my mind.

"You are the angel that was chasing me through the house!"
