Chapter 10 - Dungeon Rooms

But that was just a theory. A theory she believed to be right when she gazed

She didn't want to become a ball of flesh to be played with by a Tumbcats.

She needed absolute proof before swallowing up this core and for this she needed information. The only way where she would eat it, is if she fell into danger.

If she were to ignite her bloodlust again she didn't know if she would survive the ordeals of events following after it. The Nyx on the loose didn't reach her.

Praying with one hand she thanked god to have been so smart into her moment of stupidity.

Thinking this way, she wasn't ready to flip the board again, not when her memory was so the event was still so vivid... like any drunkard would pledge.

Going back to the matter at hand she glanced up all around her to scan her surroundings, guaranteeing its safety. She'd be in absolute darkness if not for the light produced by the core in her hand.

But she was able to scan not thanks to her eyes but with the ability, she got in her moment of madness: Core hunter, an ability to detect flow

"Mhh that's a fitting name. At least I won't fall prey to a situation like before." She also thought that maybe it was how zombie should normally 'see' because from what her test, she knew her sense were weak.

"Wait a minute. If their senses are so weak why do they react to blood? Sound I understand but... they are many inconsistencies when I look more into this." She remembered zombies without head chasing her back then.

The only explanation was that they reacted to the core, not its energy as a human didn't have any.

'Does it mean I'm gaining zombie ability the further I gain energy?' But was it so farfetch? Although faint she remembered having cycled through the memory of the zombies she ate the core.

Memories of their life before their death.

"-Sighs- It doesn't matter to assume thing on my own like that. I'll think something eventually." At worst, she'd collect cores on the way and wait the best moment to consume them.

The medicine floor, ASCLEPIUS, should have the technology to help her. She heard that doctors dreamed to work on this floor even though no one knew what there was there. The Pantheon library was sure shrouded in mysteries.

Thinking like this she jumped on her feet and realised that a bag was weirdly tied to her.

"Did I do that? In a rare moment of lucidity certainly."

"Okay then, let's go." After some more thought, the bag seemed well where it was and didn't bother her.

"Even while mad crazy I was able to tie it up nicely. Well done me." But with all the blood and gore on her, she was promoted back to a SS zombie.

"Her goes my disguise. Speaking of which..."

'Did that girl see my face?' At the thought of someone discovering her true nature Lisha frowned. Although she had saved, it was mainly for herself that she acted that way.

'But her weird way of speaking still hinted me... Aaah I hope she didn't see me. The flashlight was there too...' She didn't want a squad to attack her.

Looking at the floor which made her pause her walk, she squinted at the gaping hole on the floor.

"Is it the 8th floor or another part of the 9th floor?" Weighing down the possibilities, she prefered not to be on the same floor as the loose Nyx. However, she didn't have a choice. All the noise she made while killing worried her.

'This ain't Sparta, no one is going to push me if I don't jump.' With a scan, nothing appeared in her sight.

With a light jump and her body guarded by her flow, she landed on the floor below.

'So useful.' A cloud of dust welcomed her. A testimony of the flowing time.

Using the small practice she did above she lighted up the hall with the light of the core in her hand. This mastery was only at the surface level. Anything more would need further practice and testing.

She was in an entry hall for an aisle but which one she didn't know. With shelves, desks and rooms spaced out, this rectangular hall was as big as a tennis court.

Looking around in search of any indication, she wished dearly to be on the famous 8th floor, the ARES floor.

The Pantheon library was the best place in the whole continent to study. With millions of works at one's disposal but with only opened to the select few.

And low and behold, she was there!

"Nice!" What did it mean? It meant weaponry! More than a library, people went here to study and artefacts were mandatory here. How would one create new weapons without one?

But what worried her was this silence.

'Wasn't this floor the one best protected? But even they didn't manage to survive. There's no way zombies were the cause... maybe... Abyssmasks?

Putting it aside, if an abyssmask was still there then she'd be dead, no question asked. Nathalie and Josh wouldn't be wandering in this library too.

Putting books after books here, she was sure that someone would have put one here. At least for an emergency, but where.

"Where is the plan of the library?" She didn't ask for a weapon she was sure to find one in one of the room but she would need a plan to explore this library.

Thinking at the mine of information lying dormant in any of these PC...

"Oh I'm stupid, I nearly forgot about the gauntlet." She needed a battery for this too.

Thinking at the mine of information lying dormant in any of these PC she sighed. Electricity what a great word, sadly she couldn't spit out an electricity bolt out of her hands to power them up.

Putting back the last book susceptible to hold a good old map she went for one of the study room.

BOOOM

BOOOM

With repeated kicks, on its door. Lisha hoped to open them but would these highly secured room open with mere kicks?

No.

Even powered by flow, Lisha couldn't.

"What! You! Stupid!" Inspecting each door one by one, they would be one at least opened, mhh? Wasn't there a guy who let his door opened as they bought a sandwich huh?

'Tell me there was.'

No there wasn't.

"Just a minor setback, just a minor setback."

'Well, it happens' thinking like that, she went for the exit which oddly coincided with bloody imprint steps.

"..." Closed, she was trapped.

"Just... a minor... setback." What else could she do now. Jumping back? With her flow, she might.

But it appeared to her that it should be there too, the same as above. There should be an emergency weapon here. Here more than on any other floor.

And low and behold there was one!

"What shit is that?!"

Gazing at the result of a two-hour search, she stifled her rage.

"I-I guess it's better than nothing." She was holding an adjustable electron rifle, a good weapon, an extremely good weapon, but a broken one.

The moment she'd trigger it, it'd explode in her hand. Anyone using it would be robbed of their life...

"I ain't a kamikaze!" But it'd not dampen her, not much. There was still a different mode on it. One of them may solve this problem.

She had locked doors and an explosive, the combination was clear now.

"The mode charge take 0.5s to shoot... Let's do it."

Would it make unnecessary noise?

No, because it was for the greater good. But more seriously she didn't have a choice. She needed something to protect her and if not here where would she find it.

There was a pack of Nyxs outside this library, she needed a lot of firepowers to blast fucked monsters to smithereens.

After choosing what seemed the best looking door and hide behind a desk, Lisha turned up on charge mode, triggered the gun and with an explosion of energy, threw it like a hot potato toward it.

Lighting up red with sparks of electricity, the gun was by no mean able to contain its energy.

BOOOOM!

Propulsed along with the desk, Lisha looked did her best to come up on top.

"Damn!" A gust of wind laid down the majority of the shelves in front. PC, desk, books were all over the floor with dazed Lisha covered in paper.

"Easy peasy..."

No one but three rooms got blasted open up by the explosion.

"All according to plan... so lucky I am." lucky that she was not smashed by a shelf that is.

But even if ruminating, she had now three rooms to explore. Three of the famous ARES floor.

"I hope there are good weapons there."
