The global recession that crowned the century taught everyone a lesson. National resources and wealth were now being explored offshore, as upland resources waned and lifestyles adjusted.
The waterways were now a major source of international tension as global alliances emerged and dissolved, to broker favourable policies on managing their waterways.
More sophisticated fishing trolleys hovered over the seas.
Oil explorers relocated mostly offshore, as inland oil pipes laid underground were legislated against. Most tank farms were located on the high seas as the demand for their product shrunk.
While badges and sea liners constantly moved produce across countries and continents; Sea piracy business was grossly affected as security on the shores tightened with increased activities.

Accra Ghana
It was very quiet around the church premises and especially around the Pastors' office as the administrative staff scampered about their duties amidst hushed tones.
No one was able to confirm the stories that made the rounds among the brethren on Sunday.
6 months after the child dedication and thanksgiving celebration of Pastor Ken's triplets, the gist around was that it was all a farce made up to cover the fact that the illegally obtained the 3 babies from separate mothers in a clandestine baby-factory.
Everyone wondered what the Overseers reaction would be as he zoomed into the premises on a Monday morning. It appears that Accra branch was going to be his focus for a while, at least until the cloud had cleared.
As the Deacons, Deaconesses, departmental leaders and ordained workers arrived on time for their ten a.m. meeting, there was still an uncertainty over the agenda of the meeting, apart from the usual weekly briefing and update from the pastorate.
The conference room was already filled up when Pastor Ken arrived. As he took his assigned seat, a quick glance at the sheet of paper in front of him showed that the meeting would be chaired by the Overseer himself, which was presumed by him, since he did not receive the customary call the previous day.
Everyone rose for the opening prayer just after the usual greetings.
The direct question came unexpectedly after the various departmental briefings were concluded.
"Pastor Ken, from the briefings we have all just heard so far, there is no doubt that you have done a great job and the work of God has prospered in your hands over these past 8 years. But with due respect to you and your office please kindly clarify the rumour about the adoption of your triplets."
That was the voice he heard in his head as his heart raced and his head pounded.
He cleared his throat as it appeared that his voice was not sounding right at the moment.
"Sir, I don't understand what you mean?" He finally succeeded in saying.
Ken's head was spinning at this point. Then there was a blackout.
