Chapter 3 - Scammer got scammed

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

...

After successfully casting his first spell, Claude continued practicing and casted spells one after another. With each spell he casted, his efficiency also grew.

Before, the amount of time it takes for him to cast a spell was ten seconds. However, now it only takes him less than a second to successfully cast a spell. He had no one to compare to, so he didn't know whether the speed was good.

Claude didn't just continuously cast the Fireball Spell, he also delved into other spells in his arsenal. With repetition, he can now cast nearly all of the Low Unranked Spells with great mastery.

Strangely enough, Claude didn't feel fatigued after casting dozens upon dozens of spells. He also found it quite odd so he called for his status panel to get answers.

[Host: Claude Dawnbreaker

Rank: Advanced 1st-Class Mage

Skills: Basic Circle Forming, Basic Rune Inscribing

Mana: 11/17

Comprehension: 1]

"What!? After casting that amount of spells, it only consumed six mana!?" Claude was stunned speechless.

At this moment, he suddenly recalled the words of a professor who taught magic. He stated that, generally, 1st-Class Mages have one hundred mana in their Mana Sea.

As they continue to reinforce their Mana Sea, the capacity in which it holds mana increases accordingly. The more mana a Mage has, the more power they held.

[Ding! To answer the Host, one mana point is equivalent to one hundred mana in the real world.]

"This doesn't make sense..." Claude said in bewilderment, "If that's truly the case... shouldn't I be a 3rd-Class Mage right now?"

Mage Ranks are divided into nine Classes, with 1st-Class being the weakest and 9th-Class being the strongest. Each Class is further divided into Primary, Intermediate, Advanced, and Pinnacle.

3rd-Class Mages, specifically Pinnacle 3rd-Class Mages have a mana capacity of 1,400+. If what the system said is true, that one mana point is equivalent to one hundred mana, then he should be a Pinnacle 3rd-Class Mage with no questions asked.

[Ding! The System's ranking system differs from the real world. Such is why the Host is just an Advanced 1st-Class Mage.]

"I... I'll just look into it later." Claude let out a resigned sigh. Then, he glanced up at the sky and suddenly felt his stomach rumble, "Okay, after lunch I'll figure it out."

It was already close to afternoon and at this point Claude didn't really care about where he ate, so he would enter the first restaurant that met his eye.

As he wandered around, he didn't forget to pick up all the blue orbs that fell on the ground.

[Ding! +0.1 Mana]

[Ding! +0.2 Mana]

[Ding! +0.1 Mana]

Claude supposed that the amount of mana he receives from the blue orbs is proportional to the rank of the person it fell out from. It seemed logical so he stuck onto it.

Before long, he arrived in front of a relatively small looking restaurant. Claude was extremely familiar with this place, so he smiled went in.

Immediately after he went in, a loud shout sounded.

"Catch him!"

In an instant, all of the customers stood up from their seats and rushed towards Claude in all directions. Knowing these people, Claude didn't resist and merely smiled awkwardly.

Soon, Claude was pressed on the ground by three fairly muscular men.

"Hmph, do you think you can run away after borrowing money from us just by not coming here? Keep dreaming! Now pay up." The de facto leader snorted as stretched out his hands.

"Yeah! It's been two months yet you haven't even paid it back! If not for Argus here, we'd have most likely forgotten it!"

"Pathetic. I kept count on how much money he borrowed. It was exactly two silver taels and forty six copper taels"

...

"Ugh, can you move a bit, I can't breath." Claude said with difficulty.

The muscular men in his back nodded and adjusted their positions slightly.

Argus didn't say anything and turned to look at a bespectacled young man, "Luca, give me the list."

The bespectacled young man nodded and handed over a long piece of paper. After unfolding the piece of paper, Argus began reading it out loud.

"Wallace, fifteen copper taels. Faun, twenty-three copper taels... Luca, two silver and forty six copper taels. And last but not the least, Argus, three silver taels! In total, you owe us all thirty silver and twenty six copper taels! Because we're acquaintances, I'll just make it thirty silver taels. "

At this moment, the crowd suddenly backed away slightly and made way for a young girl. She looked fierce and had a similar aura to that of gangsters in Claude's previous world.

"And you owe our store twenty silver taels! Now pay up!"

Hearing this, a chill ran down Claude's spine. If added up altogether, the total is fifty silver taels! That's basically the only money he had in his pocket right now!

"Y-You! You swindlers!" Claude was on the verge of crying.

"Hmph! You're the swindler here if you don't repay us all!" The girl said coldly. Then, a vicious grin appeared in her face as she said, "You better pay up now, otherwise... hehe."

Boom!

Suddenly, a loud explosion sounded beside them. Turning around to look, they all simultaneously found a man shooting out from the wall in inhuman speeds.

"This..."

Before anyone could utter another word, a second man shot out from another area of the wall and landing on a table in a ragdoll fashion. The table naturally broke from sheer impact.

Then a third man.... And a fourth man...

Eventually, the men stacked up to form a small hill inside the restaurant. As for the wall... It already turned to rubble!
