Once upon a time, in a far away village, was a colony. The colony was for orphans. In such a colony, lived an orphan. Her name was Mary. She was brave and smart.
One day when Mary was playing with her friends, She noticed a paper on top of a tree. She climbed the tree, brought the paper, and read it aloud so that her friends could also hear it. "I, king William hereby announce that whoever goes to the forest surrounding our kingdom and kills the witch, will be rewarded with a gift you could have never imagined of.'
'What do you think, should we give it a try?' asked Mary. 'Killing a witch is not a bed of roses' one of her friends said. 'We can at least give it a try' Mary added. No one except Mary was willing to go to the jungle so Mary decided to go alone to the jungle and try to kill the witch.
She decided to leave for the jungle the next day. She thought that she would need something just in case. So, she packed a rope, raw and cooked meat, a knife and some water in case she gets thirsty.
They entered the jungle. It had huge trees.
Mary noticed a board and she read it,' The beast might be near. Beware. Kill the beast and you will get a red diamond. On destroying it, the witch will lose the power of flying!' Mary got an idea, she threw the raw meat on the ground and waited beside a tree. As the beast came and knelt down Mary quickly jumped out of the tree and beheaded the beast with the knife she carried along.
She got the diamond and threw it on the ground with all her might. The diamond broke into a thousand pieces.
'Will the witch really lose the power of flying?' Mary asked herself. 'Well, according to the board the beast came, so the witch losing her power of flying could also be true.'she said to herself.
She moved forward and again Mary noticed a board, 'You will see many rabbits, all rabbits are fake except for one. Find the real rabbit and kill it. Mind you can kill only one rabbit. After killing the rabbit, you will get a green diamond. On destroying it, the witch will lose the power of shapeshifting.
She went forward and as indicated by the board, they saw many rabbits. They were screaming, shouting, 'I am the diamond.' Mary noticed a rabbit which wasn't speaking anything. She killed it. They got the diamond and destroyed it.
Now, she moved forward and as expected she saw another board, 'You have passed all the tests. Now, you will find a hut which belongs to the witch. Go in there and you will see a box. Within the box there are 3 diamonds 2 are fake and 1 is real. Destroy the real one and the witch will die. You can destroy only one diamond.'
It was sunny and now Mary started sweating. She saw the witch waiting for them outside her hut. She had a plan. She went towards the hut and said, "I just heard a weird voice and it said that it would fulfill all our wishes. I asked him to give me a meal and he gave me this(showing the chicken she brought). The witch asked Mary where she could find the voice. " There is a big pond near the big pine tree you need to go there, jump and stay inside the water for around 5 minutes a man will appear and grant all your wishes. But beware he only grants the wishes of a normal human so go there in disguise and leave your wand here so that he won't suspect you."Mary said.
"Clever girl stay here and guard this place I will go to the pond." The witch said.
After the witch went away the first thing Mary did was destroy the magic wand of the witch. And now she didn't even have to destroy the diamond. The witch would die on her own in the pond. So, Mary went inside the hut. There was a box containing three diamonds. The day had been sunny and as they were in the window Mary simply touched all the three diamonds. 2 were warm but the last one was cold. Mary took the 3rd diamond. She knew that a real diamond would never be hot no matter what. She took the diamond and went to the king, he was pleased knowing that the witch died. The king handsomely rewarded Mary. She had gotten a new and happy life now she also sold the diamond at high cost and got even more money. She lived happily ever after.
