Chapter 335 - Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 100. The Prince's Grudge

Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 100. The Prince's Grudge

Elsewhere, in Eternal Harmony City, Asteria. Ilex was busy inspecting the city wall which had just been repaired. He, followed by a few elite guards, walked down the wall, making sure all the damage had been fixed.

His eyes traced the wall. Every now and then, he shifted on the map in his hand to make sure he checked the correct location before moving on to the next one. Sometimes his hand touched or hit the wall, making sure it was perfect.

"How is it, Your Highness?" asked the assistant. It was his new assistant. King Gervis assigned him to watch over Ilex, making sure he didn't do anything stupid that could endanger his own life or break the agreement.

"Some still need minor repairs. But we don't need that right now. As long as the wall is strong, it's good enough. Pay them," he ordered without taking his eyes off the wall.

Minor repairs were usually just smoothing the new stone so it would have the same color as the rest of the wall. But he realized they didn't have much of a budget, so instead of spending it, he decided to return it to his father.

Yes, even though Ilex wanted to use the money to fund his plan, with the assistant following him wherever he went, he couldn't do anything.

"Yes, Your Highness," said the assistant. Then he carried out his orders.

After his assistant left, Ilex decided to take a walk around the wall. The sun was still shining brightly and he didn't have any work to do since his father was still worried about his grudge against Angel.

He couldn't get out of the city either and couldn't do much movement that would make them suspect him. So he decided to spend more time on the wall.

Going up the top wall, Ilex walked casually with his eyes fixed on the city. His gaze caught the various activities and his people. Even though the war had just passed a few months ago, there was no trace of fear on people's faces. As if the nightmare ended just like that for them, but not with him. For Ilex as long as Angel was alive, his nightmare was not over.

Then his gaze fell on the castle that was shining in golden light from a distance. His home. Or rather on the barrier that covered that castle. A barrier that came from the magic sword in the magic room.

He slowed down his pace. His mind fell on his plan. It was a crazy plan but he had no choice. All of it was to defeat the bastard who took everything from him.

Worry and anxiety filled his heart ever since he realized what he was doing was tantamount to betraying his family. But what could he do? He was stuck. The King's Sword couldn't beat Angel so he thought of trapping Angel with another of his family's swords. The Guardian Sword.

He realized that Angel had done something to the barrier before he attacked the castle. While his sister and father had begun to question their doubts about Angel's identity after the war, not with Ilex. He still thought that Angel was not his cousin. A Holy Knight could not and would not possess a dark power.

If Angel really was his real cousin, the dark power had tainted him. For Ilex, Angel was better to die than tarnish his family's reputation. A knight with dark powers was no different from a dead person for him.

As his pride gnawed at his heart, accidentally, Ilex saw several Euphorion troops near the wall. It soured his mood, so he took his eyes off the city and turned his head outside the wall. His eyes stared at the distance to the south, far into the kingdom of Euphorion.

Somehow he could imagine Angel and Rose laughing at him upon his defeat. It burned a grudge in his heart. He could even guess that Rose was enjoying what she wanted since 5 years ago, living with Angel.

Unconsciously, he clenched his hands and gritted his teeth. Cursing rolled in his heart, but his mouth couldn't say a word. He knew Angel's spies were everywhere so he didn't want to act stupid.

"Everything is ready, Your Highness." His assistant's voice broke his reverie and brought his attention back.

Quickly, he returned to his composure and turned to the assistant.

"Good. Let's go back." He turned and walked towards the stairs. Before he descended, he took one more glance at the outside of the wall.

'Soon... I will have your head soon...'
