A few years ago.
Dan sat calmly in a chair reading a book. Everyone had.gone out for lunch and he was the only person left in the class.
He wrote down some notes from the book he was reading as it had interested him a lot. It was a simple story and Dan loved stories a lot. Recently for the past few months, Dan did not enjoy fighting as much as he did before. He had gotten into reading story books.
He read the fantasy books in which the villain defeated the hero and the occasional story where the hero beat the villain. Dan did not know why but his senses had dulled a lot recently but he did not care. The colour in his eyesight was gone and he saw things in gray and white occasionally.
The only thing that was sharp was hearing. He could hear his heartbeat, the people upstairs on the roof, the wind blowing on the leaves gently and even the faint heartbeat of the 6 legged bird which was kept in a cage in the front of the class.
Dan did not look up when the door to the classroom swung up and several students walked in. They were shouting and chattering away like monkies yet Dan paid no mind to them.
One of the students who was a small man with indigo skin and static like hair that refused to go down to lunch saw Dan. He also happened to be the new kid in class and the leader of the group.
He walked over to Dan despite the warnings he received from his little hoodlums. He stared at Dan for a few seconds and opened his mouth to speak.
It was then that he made a mistake. Dan lifted his book and swung it hitting him in his mouth knocking out all of the guy's teeth. The guy slumped to the floor and the only thing that his goons could do was just stare.
The 6 legged bird started screeching but before it could draw any attention Dan pulled out a pack of seeds and poured it into the cage. The entire point of the 6 legged bird was to act as a witness and call for the teachers in case a fight or something big happened.
"Take him to the infirmary." Dan said. The students picked up the student and dragged him out.

"Why do you ask something like that?" Pedro asked Dan as they sat in a carriage heading home. Usually Pedro gave Dan a lift when he was going to his Dan's grandmother's house.
"I told you already did I not? I just want to know what your opinion is."
"Sigh... fine... I think that life is... life is beautiful and ugly at the same time but the beauty of it makes up for the ugliness and harshness of it. I think that life is a truly precious object to have."
Dan raised his eyebrow. "Object?"
"Yes, people always say that life is an abstract but they don't know that it is not, people's life's are at their own or someone else's fingertips. There is a reason why people say I will take hold of my life."
Dan nodded his head and opened a small diary book and jotted some words down on it.
Pedro looked at the book and tried peaking at it but it was closed before he could get a proper look as Dan had finished writing whatever he was writing.
"What do you think then?" Pedro said.
"Huh,"
"You asked me what makes life beautiful, I don't know where this came from but you asked me this question so let me hear your opinion."
"I really don't have an opinion, it's more of the opinion of another person." Dan looked out of the window and stared at the fields as if longing for something.
"Let me hear it then,"
"Sigh... well I think life is beautiful because of the simple fact that it ends. The fact that we have only one chance to do what we want. If we were immortals and the concept of death did not exist then no one would live to their full potential. I think that until you die you should do whatever you want like you own the world or you don't care who owns the world."
Pedro also looked out of the window to see what Dan was looking at only to see the ass of cow that was grazing peacefully in a field.
He made a disgusted face as he thought Dan was staring at it all this time.
"Wow, you developed a conscience! that's cool and all, but why do you seem so depressed?"
"I'm not depressed at all, recently I read this story book about a man who could control time in every way possible. Slow it down, speed it up, reverse it, forward it and even create time loops. So this guy decides to go back to his childhood and started fixing everything to his liking. Anytime he did not like something happening then he would go back and fix it until finally his entire life was perfect and to the way he liked it. In the end he kills himself because he became depressed after living a perfect life with only perfect memories."
Pedro nodded and pretended to listen. As soon as he saw Dan looking down he opened the carriage door and used his telekinesis to throw him out.
As the carriage moved forward with Dan picking himself up Pedro shouted. "Next time you want to be depressed do that somewhere else."

A man in a dark dungeon sat in the corner with a chain and a ball around his neck. The man was chained to a wall. He let out a small chuckle. "It's always the little things that people remember!" Pedro said to himself. He hummed a little tune before speaking to himself.
"I heard people's life flash before their eyes before they die, am I gonna die soon?"
